Anybody out there know how the Headlight switch can be removed from the dashboard from one of these babies? I searched the Tech Archive with no results found. Thanks in advance, Wag
The design is different but so far as I know the basics are the same as the newer ones, there is a ****on on it that lets you remove the knob and shaft and then the bezel unscrews from the dash.
Is the switch still working? If so pull it out as far as you can and spray some kind of lubricant down the shaft push it in and out a bunch of times, finally push it in to the park light position and push the ****on with the spring on it in on top of the back of the switch and pull on the switch shaft it should come right out. If it doesn't and you aren't using the switch again pull it all the way out cut it off with a zip wheel push it in with a skinny screw driver and remove the bezel.
This drawing is from the '37 Buick shop manual. Maybe it's the same as the Olds, it's got to be close.
Thanks guys I crawled under the dash and it all of a sudden seemed too obvious. Switch is out, cleaned and rewired and back in service. Thanks for all the responses! Wag
