Not really rare, but different. I've been running this one in my '40 since 1998.

GMC 292, bored .030, ported & polished, Comp Lifters, 270 wolverine cam, 3x2 Holley Webers, Langdon Headers. Smooth power, lot's of torque! Always gets the looks and questions, " Why did you put a six cylinder in it? " or " It's good to see you put a six cylinder in it ".
I'm glad I did it. It's been a good ride.

The 350 Chevy that came from the factory in the fibergl*** 32 Ford's is extremely rare.

I guess if they hadn't junked so many Furd power plants they too would be cheap and common.

Here's another one - a Weslake Chevy big block engine - one of two pairs of Big Block Chevy heads made by Harry Weslake and supplied to John Surtees for his CanAm team in late 1965 I believe. These were on a 427 ZL1 aluminum block and produced 640 HP. This was engine was at one time in a race car I owned in the 1980s. Sorry for the old B&W photos - and poor scan - it's all I have left....

That's the Falconer V12, sorta based on the SBC and popular with air and boat racers.

By 1952 ED "crankshaft' KELLY had cut back the 1949 caddy 331 to a 231 cu. in. V8 for chevy, but then ED COLE came over to CHEVY and s****ed the 231 V8 and his team made the sb chevy engine. I found seven places on the internet that talk about this 231 chevy V8 and I got a picture of the engine. Before I could get the hi res and contrast 8"x10" picture they made me have a PERSONAL USE ONLY SHEET. I am still looking for more data on this 231 chevy V8.
    This too rare?

  17. The rarest Chevrolet engine: a 350 that is NOT claimed to be a "Corvette" engine.
