Thread of hot rods on display in our town circle during each August for the annual Caladium Festival. These are built and owned by local retirees in and around Lake Placid, Florida. Here are some from the 2012 period. Oh well, this was my last one in 1970:

I is usually held in mid-August on a weekend of course. Not sure why since we are all retired It simply The Caladium Festival (http://lpfla.com/caladium.htm). Sometimes a few hundred cars, rat rods, street rods mostly since retirees actually drive.
Street rods came before my time but I started getting dirty working on them in the 1940's. We were real hot rodders who working from scratch and not from mail order catalog. Hey, a new term; "catalog rodders" describes newbies!

Having been out of the loop in the hot rod world for many, many Moons these cars seem to me very neat. In my day we tried to make our hot rods as inconspicuous as possible so's the GS-5's in poorly supped up cars would not see us and give chase. Here are more form 2007:
