Hello! I'm a freelancing illustrator / artist from Sweden and I've always been a huge fan of the kustom kulture. When my computer died last summer I started to fool around with a chunk of clay and one thing lead to another and today I am sculpting, casting and painting kustom shifters. So, feel free to ask, comment and leave crits. Enjoy, This Zombified Elvis shifter was one of the first that I made (I hope I dont offend some Diehard Elvis fans).
My shifters are casted in"resin" and handpainted. Here's another, called "Cat From Hell" (it is very hard to take a good photo of it but you get an idea anyway).
& Thanks for asking.. It really depends on what kind of design it would be. The fact is that it's just as much work doing 1 knob as 3.. But including shipping and everything somewhere around $180 USD (it can be discussed). Thanks for the tip.. I'll check it out. Haha well it's all a matter of taste.. Thanks for for your comment though. & & Thank you very much.
I was going to do the Stray Cat at first but changed my mind and made this instead.. Since It did'nt feel right to do their cat.
This guy contacted me and asked if I could portrait him as a pistonhead.. And the idea is that his father will get the shifter as a gift.. Well since I've never done this before I agreed on giving it a try but did'nt promise anything. Anyway, here it is.. As a claymodel (I will cast it after the weekend). I hope you like it!
What material are the knobs made out of? Do you use a mold? Or do you just carve it out of wood, clay etc? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Thanks for the question. I sculpt a model in clay, which I make a mold from, and then I cast it in Resin or Polyester. I have made som castings in pewter and have plans for br*** (but I need some place to meslt the br***).
I just finished this "pistonhead portrait" shifter.. It will get some layers of clearcoat but that will be tomorrows work. I think it turned out pretty nicely.. And I hope you like it.
