okay, so thought I'd post this question outside the build thread to get as many pics and thoughts on shaving the trunk hood latch on the 50...I'm not shaving the door handles however am chopping and have done some subtle stuff...I'm all ears and eyes for suggestions...

Shave it for sure. That piece is bulky and doesn't flow at all.

Normally I like to leave all the stock pieces as much as possible but in this case I think shave it. It does kind of "stick out there" and not in a cool way.

Shave it, nose it, deck it, and drop it in the weeds!

To me the trim is a big part of the appeal of an old car. Shave everything off and you're just left with a big lump.

Wow yeah that needs to go. Of course you could leave it there and eat your lunch on it, that thing is HUGE. Maybe that's where the ricer wing came from

  20. I'm not a shoebox lover, so the more you do to change the look, the better it will be. (other than a ricer wing)

Definately shave it. I plan to run a modern style latch, and have a pull cable routed behind the bumper to open it.

I left the indent in place for strength. I was worried about it warping if I cut that piece out and welded a new piece in, so I left it in place and bent up a piece of sheetmetal to weld over it.

good idea, although in wetter climates trapped moisture might be an issue down the road...thanks all for the suggestions...getting at it in the am! will post pics in my build thread
