I saw this on the Radir wheels site and haven't seen it before anywhere. Don't know if it is currently running or how old these photos are. It looks like it says 'Salt Lake City on the back? And maybe Price Brothers Automotive on the side? Appreciate any info. Just curious you don't see to many t bird g***ers
Here is a T-bird g***er from Biletproof in Fl. I don't know enough about them to tell if it is the real deal or not. I can't find the rest of the car though, I think it was a 55 with a 427 FE.
Hey thanks, I'm always interested in the old birds that have any racing heritage. Got a vintage 55 with a SOHC engine somewhere, i'm still looking for it. It was out of Colorado.
heres a cammer little bird It Belongs to lonnie sargent he owned the wrecking yard in woodland wa. In the 70s I remember 6 or more cammers setting in the shop The cammer bird was loud and nasty sounding photo came from here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108351 He still has the car and cammer. last time I was at his shop it was like going back to the 60s with the exception of a cnc mill he was working on.
I have a 55 Thunderbird G***er. It is an original I found it in St Louis MO It was put in Storage in 1963 I bought in from an Estate sale last month.
It may be a small point, but if you look at the photo's.The cl*** of these cars are SP,not G.These cars ran on a modified sport cl***.not gas.Just because a car in the old days had a straight axle and a hood scoop did not make it a G***er
Eventually they lumped the sports cars in with the Gas cl*** so technically your both right "MELTDOWN DRAGS" July 20, 21 2013 at Byron Dragway Byron Ill. www.meltdowndrags.com
I just checked and they were put together in 1968 for NHRA not sure about the other sanctions. "MELTDOWN DRAGS" July 20, 21 2013 at Byron Dragway Byron Ill. www.meltdowndrags.com
To answer the question , the "Bird " belonged to Richard Poll of Salt lake City , He and Bill Spens partnered on racing the car locally in the 50s and early 60s with Y-Blocks and then a 427 wedge. And then in southern Calif in the later 60s with a 427 cammer they got from "Gas Rhonda" .Heres a different shot of the car at " Bonneville Dragstrip" in about 1965. I have several more of it later in its life if you're interested.
I see it has the Wedge Enginnering logo on it. Dan Piasano sold a Thurderbird g***er that his dad Carman had, he was Wedge Enginnering in the LA area, when he sold it his dad had started to made it a street car with a Cad engine. I was looking for a 55 bird to create a tribute car to the Chrisman and Cannon 55 with an injected early hemi. It is almost done will post some pics once I put them together and figure out how to post on this form
