Got to see a beautiful Cammer today

I went to an all Ford show at a local Ford dealership and ran into this beauty:

 

Yes sir, no 307 boat anchor (!) there! She is a beautiful motor & car. Far rarer than the Hemi.

 

Is that car from Georgia? Looks like one I saw a few years back in Georgia.

 

That is as ***y as it gets. What a car.

 

Pure **** in metal.

Looks like a 1961 Starliner, and the SOHC engine didn't come along until 1964. In any case I think they were all sold over the counter.

 

what was the purpose of that motor and why did they not put them in production cars??

 

Nice looking car but that upper radiator hose just downgrades it by about 90%. What is the deal with people who use those hoses? They look like ***, trap dirt, and are worse than a stock hose.

 

Didn't even notice... Kept looking at the VC'S.Yep.does not belong and kinda ruins everything......

 

Racing...pure and simple.

 

SWEEEEEEETTT!!! I am starting to develop a soft spot for these Fords. I like a '64 the best but man this one is BAD.

I'm a Chevy guy, but those early '60s Fords are so *****in'. With a Cammer, it's even more so. What a perfect combination.

You just can't win with some people.

 

Did you get to hear it run ? They sound fuel dragster-ish. I was at a show and heard this rumble behind me and it was a black Galaxy with a cammer in it. The sound was unreal and you knew there was something really special under the hood. People couldn't wait for him to pop the hood.

FORD Carlisle is next weekend! Last year there were a bunch of big Galaxies to look at under a big tent...lookin forward to the same this year!

 

the sight of that lump of irons almost enough to give me a fat!!, saw one a few years ago in a 67 Fairlane in Moab, holy **** it was beautiful and sounded incredible.

 

Yes I did hear it run and it has a sound all it's own. This is a local car here in western Virginia. It is real eye candy.

 

As far as I know - Hemi was cleaning everyone's clock in NASCAR. NASCAR said no to the Hemi wing cars and Cammer.

 

Looks like it.... Last time I seen his car in person, it had a nascar style "cold air" air cleaner ***embly on it.. This was 2 years ago at the Ford World HQ in Dearborn...

 

......Do a quick search for the SOHC thread I started a few weeks ago. Lots of great info from folks who are far more knowledgeable about these engines than I am.

 

A) To go incredibly fast.

It was originally designed to kick the 426 Hemi's *** in NASCAR but was banned from NASCAR. Most were used for drag racing but not in stock cl***es.

They weren't put in production cars as they were designed strictly for racing and also cost, in the 60s, over $2000. I remember hearing $2500 for a long block...

 

In the early 80's Car Craft did one of their Cruisin' Series articles about him cruising this one night in Detroit. Great article.

 

Johns car is more Orange and as DEUCES stated has the cold air intake, for lack of a better discription on what to call it.
