I went to State farm who I have 5 other cars with. Pekin Out of ILL. I have my Motorcycles with and Dairyland from Wisc., and J.C. Taylor who insures lots of old cars.

Sounds like a job for GRUNDY or HAGERTY! I'd NEVER use a main stream company like State Farm. Unless you get an agent who's a car guy, you're out of luck. The other ones sound local and small. Too small to take a risk.

    Grundy should insure it.

I submitted this picture to Grundy Insurance. They insured her for $18K, but better yet, they wanted to buy her.

    PS - I kept the car. :D

  8. Definitely go with a hotrod friendly insurance. I had my insurance want to decline to insure my '84 Chevy wagon in 2001.

I don't understand, if you're just putting basic liability on the car then they never even need to see the car.

In California the agent is required to physically inspect anything they insure.

Not that they're going to evaluate it mechanically, they just need personal evidence that the vehicle exists.

First, it's a losing bet to just get liability. Second, most RELIABLE specialty insurers require a picture of the car from 3 views.

I don't get that.............Allstate covered my 55 Chevy while it was still being built and insured it for full replacement value of what it would be worth finished.

Classic car AGREED VALUE coverage through a company like Grundy or Hagerty is probably LESS than Liability through State Farm. Liability only on my 54 Ford through regular insurance? Cheapest I got was $900 a year. Hagerty for agreed value? Under $400 a year. Oh yeah, that includes an OT BMW M5 and my '60 Lincoln coupe too!

Even if they are harsher at insuring a Hot Rod than a regular classic, you're still gonna save big money.

State farm came to my shop viewed the cars and insured them all after I sent them a check. Got all the insurance cards and then a month later got cancellations on all of them. Called and they said they ONLY insure original cars BS They hadn't changed in 4 weeks ALWAYS WERE HOT RODS

Try Hagerty Stand up car guys they have all my cars Good luck

Hagerty - Just insured my A, and the only question they had was if I wanted the adder for under construction.

I had to replace the lower 6" of the body (and still need to patch the doors and deck lid)

Actually - I did have one issue. She accused me of being finished with it. I had to 'spain that when I'm done it will be a clean/shiny hot rod, not a r-rod.

  24. I have lived in CA for 65 years and have been with State Farm for over 35 years. My agent has never asked to see a single one of my vehicles. When I insured my V8 bike, she asked how many CCs it was. I said 5700. She looked at me like I had two heads and said, "OK". Never asked to see it.

I must have a good agent mine even put every mod on file including the 4.5" chop. I have had my agent for a long long time maybe that's why. I do think its a racket and it shouldn't matter what kind of car it is or what it looks like if they cancel my truck that's fine me and my 3 other cars will go elsewhere.

Insurance, is only as good as the agent that represents you to the main company...

all cup holders should be in front of the dash vents. " keeps hot stuff hot, cold stuff cold, how do it know?"
