I've been dreaming over a rotted coupe in a favorite junkyard for over 20 years, always wishing it were in a LITTLE better condition. Just for peace of mind, can anyone tell me what it is for sure? I was guessing 36 Chevy, but I'm not sure. It's been laying there rusting for so long that I'm sure it would simply crumble away if I tried to move it. Frame is buried below soil level. Still....
Hard to tell with the trees in front of it, side windows don't look right for a GM product. I'm sure it will come right out of there, I've moved worse. Frame may not be usable, but it's unusual for one to be so bad it breaks in two.
Doggone it, you guys! You're supposed to be telling me to forget it. You know, like, "it's too far gone!" Now I'm getting the urge again. I do like all those fabulous, super-perfect zillion dollar hot rods...but not for me to own. I've somehow caught the bug to build a rusty old hot rod, with low-tech old-timey hot rod techniques. and just drive it everywhere I go. Park it right in the shopping center, and not worry about it. (that's what MOST hot rods were really like around these parts, back in my day.) But I would NEVER be able to find doors or anything for it. Still...I can hear it calling my name...
With prices the way they are, the rusty cars in a shopping center are the first to get taken. Times have changed.
Guys 'round here think that's a cherry... OK, not really cherry, but I've seen worse looking projects on here.
one thing I can tell you - it's not in as good of condition today as it was when you first started jonesing about it. Quit vacillating, grab a couple fistfuls of cash and go get it. Then after it's in your garage you can start complaining.
Hell man, get down there and drag that thing out, the lines are nice an im sure it would make a neat car. Even as a piece of yard art its better than rusting away where it is now.
Is it at Warners?,if so most of them were mostly complete back in the early 70s but by the time I got back there in the late 90s most of the coupes have been stripped. My dad was not able to go with me due to health issues and told me about a 37 Desoto coupe that was in there that he thought was almost complete but it was just a shell on a frame when I found it.
does it has vin or plate on the firewall ..... could you get a photo of the interior ( thats if its still there )....???
... can not wait to see the pics of it mocked up on 2 x 4's and milk crates in your garage with wheels laying against the body...
Might be a 35 Pontiac. Used to know where a pair of these were and it appears to look a lot like those 35 Pontiacs.
35 dodge or Plymouth if there aren't any holes for trim along the body line it's a Plymouth. I'm workin on a friends 35 right now they can be pretty good lookin cars. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Well, you've got me there, Fenders. But frankly, every time I've looked at it I've decided it's TOO far gone to save. Yet today, with people building nostalgic stock racing cars, old school hot rods, rat rods, etc...I'm beginning to wonder if I was wrong about it. Ok, I'm goin' back over there to see if he will sell it...and if I can find a way to get it out of there. Sigh.
I'm going to help you out here, don't be a fool for some old rusty piece of ****. Well, get a friend a good pair of shoves and dirk that baby out, OK this sentence sounds better then the first. CRUISER
Yeah, I've been looking at lots of pix of 36 Plymouths online, and that seems to match this thing pretty closely. Next trip over I'll cut through some brush and brambles to get some more details.
