Speedo question

so when i bought my car the speedometer didnt work. just getting around to it and wanted to see if anyone has had this happen. its an autometer speedo and electronic sensor on a 700r trans

First thing I would do is to take the nuts that hold the wires on that sensor and clean things up so you had good contact from the sensor to the wires. That looks like an electrical interruption in the making.

About the same time I would hunt down the diagram for the wiring to make sure that it's wired right.

 

Surely Autometer has a wiring diagram for that somewhere.
