Getting to be that time of year guys, what are you doing to keep cool? Triple digits with no A/C is no fun for anyone, so I'm considering a couple dash fans to keep myself and my p***enger cool. Any of you guys running one? A pair? Let's see what you've got!

The one I'm looking at is a universal one from MAC's, for 25 bucks I don't think I could go wrong...

I have one like that. Trouble was in the Comet I really don't have room. I had it mounted upside down under the dash but it finally got knocked off from being hit by my p***engers' knees.

Look at truck stops. A buddy of mine works at Allied Waste and he has boxes of those he pulls out from the Semi trucks.

Hell, I could nearly fit a small ceiling fan in the cab of my F250. A little 6-incher shouldn't be a problem :D

Yeah yeah, dual 70's, I know. Hard to drive 70 at a stop light. Or in gridlocked traffic.

    That's a good idea, I'm sure they're out there at a bargain.

I always see them when out garage sale hunting. Never paid more than a couple bucks.

True and I was kidding because I have a roadster. But on the subject of fans, if you're sitting in traffic, wouldn't the fan only be circulating warm air that's in the car?

Like in a house in the summer time. A fan is good for circulating the air, but if the air is hot, all you're getting is the feel of a breeze. I guess that's better than nothing.

I just bought a seat cover with a built in fan that circulates air to your backside. I keeps the sweating down a lot!

Haha yeah I guess so. Same logic applies while driving though. Doesn't matter how fast you drive if the air blowing in is 110*!

Isky, post some pics! I've heard of guys retrofitting newer seats or running some hose from the A/C up into the seat and perforating the leather. God that would be nice on my swamp ***.

Here's something I thought of for a friend who has a shoe box. How about making an insulated box, like a metal ice chest. Mount a smaller box on one side with a fan inside. Route some flexible dryer hose from the small box into the cooler near the top. Then have louvers cut into the top of the cooler. Fill the larger box with ice and a little water.

The fan would blow air over and through the ice and out the louvers. It seems like it could work. But size might be a problem. That's kinda like how an AC system works.

  11. Here's the dash fan I have for my coupe ,will mount under center of dash ,hopefully will help distribut air from cowl vent

Thats the basic idea of those window mounted swamp coolers for cars. If you add ice water to those things, they will freeze your *** off.

Not a great picture, but this is a fan I'm adding to my 54 Chevy.

Here's my Bergstrom "school bus fan', as I call it. I got it at a swap meet for a couple of bucks and cleaned it up and painted it. I didn't put it in for cooling, though. I went the specially constructed way to get a legitimate ***le and one of the requirements was a "defrosting or defogging device". This satisfied the DOT inspector.
