For those who enjoy vehicles from this era might want to check out this tribute website. Brand new website as of today. While this has been a big effort the last few weeks, should have a ton of information, flyers, pictures, results, ect. added to the site in the upcoming weeks.

Man, I was stationed at Keesler in 1968 and wish I could have checked out the strip. Just a year too late. I never saw much in the way of hot cars there except those on the air base.

I was stationed in Biloxi in '64 & '65. We went out to the drags many weekends. I remember the string of lights (light bulbs) along the track and how much dust and dirt was blown up by the cars on the return road. Saw Garlits, Little Red Wagon, Hemi under Gl***, and a bunch of other "famous" racers there. We raced our '57 Ford against a Avanti one night and got our doors blown off. Had a great time there and will never forget it.

Saw Garlits, Little Red Wagon, Hemi under Gl***, and many other "famous" cars run there. I remember the string of light bulbs running the length of the strip so we could see at night and the dusty return road. My first time ever driving in a race was me (in a '57 Ford) against a Stude Avanti, and I got my doors blown off. What a great time!!
I also remember a bunch of old cars out in the woods not too far from the track. We wandered through there several times, just looking at all the neat old iron. Have never been back that way, but still think about it from time to time.

Thanks! I raced there '65-'66. Went to the site about 3 or 4 years ago and was surprised to see that it had not been developed. Picked up a chunk of asphalt from the strip that I keep on my desk as a paper weight.

Yeah, I remember that old abandoned yard. I went back in the 70s and could not find it anymore.I guess it was cleaned out.I remember a 34 Ford sedan in particular in there that I should have drug home. Here is an old photo I took there.

wfopossum from who I've have talked to it seems it is the reason it shut down. Live just a few miles from it. The land hasn't ever been developed into anything. Wanted to get in contact with the owners of the land to find out more information if possible. Here's the information from the last flyer.

Since this thread was last updated, a bunch of new pictures and many events are now on the website (Mississippi Championship races, Garlits, Arfons, Tommy Ivo), photos with the events. Plan on creating a book covering the history of the drag strip in detail like the website in the near future. There also a facebook timeline page to follow the updates as the website continues to be worked on.
