I stumbled upon this coupe a few weeks ago and I've been obsessed since. I've been toying with painting my coupe a similar color and I wanted to see if there were any other images of the car or if perhaps the color was tweaked for the "colorization" of this October 1951 Hot Rod Magazine cover.
It looks like it has 34 side panels on the hood, and if you look close, the doors look like 34's as well.
I kinda thought that too.... AND yeah I looked at the doors and the back window molding and thought '34.
Color looks similar to SWC blue. Or look at '57 vettes that are Arctic Blue, real nice color. That would look awesome on a 33/34.
I love that color! I was going to paint my 32 that color but it's gone now. That color above looks close but something tells me it was a little more drabby then that??? I don't know, and it's hard to say with them colorizing the photos in the early 50's. I was hoping someone new about the actual car so see what the actual color looked like. For all I know it could have evolved into this 266 Car in 1954....
It looks a lot like 57' Vette arctic blue like 327-365hp says. Here's a few shots of a my buddies 57 that is NCRS top flight. Really correct FYI. (and he's the original owner no less)
I also checked 59 and 60 Vette colors...60 is horizon blue and 59 is frost blue http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorco...te&sname=Horizon Blue&name=corvette1960WA2654 http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorco...vette&sname=Frost Blue&name=corvette195915016 The frost blue looks pretty close.
