I've got an old Edmunds manifold for duel carbs- 4 stud with 2 aero type strombergs. I want to run 2 97's. anyone knw where I can find 2 adapter plates?

What kind of engine are we talking about here? If it's anything medium to large, 2 97's won't be enought. I've had lots of luck using small base Rochester 2GC's on setups like this. Also, depending on the cir***stances, the 2GC's might be a lot cheaper than 97's (unless you already have them).
346 Cadillac flathead. Currently running 2 stromberg aero types that have given me fits. Rebuilt them twice and still can't get them to run right. So I've opted to run 2 97's. don't have the 97's yet and I'm open to other ideas like the 2CG's.
I think you are headed for too little carb with 97's or even 48's. You are about 100 cubes past happiness with 2 97's. An alternative would be the various Carter/Ball and Ball/Strombergs used on 318 Mopars...nice simple carbs.
your not going to believe this but i'll throw it out here anyway-----------use a piece of hardwood!! Wood is the best insulator , i've done it in the past with 2bbl chevys with no problems. I've had one on my lawn mower for the past 3 years ----its a 16 hp that I could'nt fine a kit for-I put a bendix carb from a harley flh on it & it runs perfect on only the idle setting & will mow anything you can run over.
I've always been happy with Stromberg WW's. Even more period correct, would be a pair of Holley 885's, used on Postwar Mercury and Lincoln flatheads. They're both 4 bolts that will fit. Air inlet is sidedraft and 3" diameter. A pair of Lincoln or Merc factory air cleaners powder coated to shiny aluminum or flat black would look awesome coming off the polished Edmunds. Art
FYI, I have been working on putting a 2GC on my '51 ford using a Canadian aluminum Mercury manifold. I am going to do this the right way and bore out the Mercury manifold to fit the 2GC. Here are the throttle bore sizes I have found on these various carburetors: Holley 94 - 1 1/4 inches Merc manifold - 1 5/16 inches Small Base 2GC - 1 7/16 inches Doesn't look like much, but the 2GC comes out to be 30% larger in area than the 94. The Holley is in between, but closer to the 94. I don't know about the other carbs (carters, Strombergs), but I've had such good luck with 2GC's, I went with them.
I'm with the guys that think a pair of 97s aren't going to hack it on a 346 cubic inch V8. There are several carburetors with the bolt pattern your intake's already drilled for. If you want the old look, a pair of Carter WCDs should fit the bill.
