The fact that some guys spent a lot of time and money to do it doesn't make it traditional. If anything, this makes what Brookville has done all the more amazing.

There is nothing political about buying American. It does not make you a clown, or some kind of "hater". When you ask for feedback don't be surprised that it's important to some of us, especially when it is a Hot Rod, to use American stuff. Most of us actually know where our computer came from, that doesn't make it right. Looks like a nice product, if thse guys were so "smart", and had such "balls" they could have figured out a way to make it here.

i agree with sakowski, its a great car, amazing worksmanship but it just dont have the ghosts in it. id rather beat and bang on a beater 32 body for a couple years. its about the hunt, the history and the pride. i built a fiberglass car one time and when i parked it next to real steel ones....it was not the same...left me empty feeling so i sold it a waited till i can afford a real one. now i have a real steel body...its worth the wait.

Actually, there is. Which is probably why this thread needs to be shut down. It's a VERY controversial issue for a few folks.

I don't care if a part of whole car is made in bum fuck Egypt. If it's of good quality, I'm okay with it. If inanimate objects can have a soul:rolleyes:, I'll give it one when I work on it and it won't matter where it came from. But that's me.

The man introduced a new product and I suspect wanted opinions on it being available. Well, he got it and a whole load of shit as extra. Typical.

The fact they are available is great. If you don't like it or what ship they came in on, SIMPLY DONT BUY IT.

There's nothing wrong at all with your philosophy. It's just that everyone has that line in the sand and for everyone, that line is in a different place. Someone mentioned the "ghosts" that are not in a newly manufactured piece, I get that, and there certainly is a romance with an old real deal body. But I think you're highly discounting what any builder is instilling in their project CURRENTLY. It's the building of the car NOW, that will give it it's soul as much as anything else. If I had the fundage, I'd snap one of the 5 windows up with a quickness!

I really get a kick out of the negativity expressed towards this body.

I saw it at the Red Deer swap meet in the So Cal booth and was very impressed.

I want a 32 5 window some day and may end up buying one of these if the time is right.

A new steel 32 5 window ? Hell yes, it is a thing of beauty in my eyes.

  10. I thought this original post was for an opinion of this particular product ,being the 32 body Without the politics, I'm loyal to my country but I'm also loyal to my wallet. Looks like a nice product.

It was! I just wanted to get feedback from people who will get to see it so that people that can't make it to the LARS can still get an idea of the quality.

  12. Any other bodies planned for the future ? ....a 34 3 window for example.

I will give this body a serious consideration when I start my next car, though it would be necessary for me to see it in person before I could make a final decision. Will it make it to one of the Pacific Northwest venues?

I, too, would be interested in the '33/'34 three or five window coupe body.

That's my decision point for the next car: Deuce Coupe versus '33/'34 Coupe.

Realistically, how much more would it have added to the cost to do the stampings here since the final assembly is in the US? I mean shipping body parts from china or wherever has to cost something. Get some dedicated hot rodders who don't need Union wages to do it. Now I'm not knocking the Unions, but I worked as a union electrician for 15 years and we had a lot of skilled workers but also a lot of deadbeats you had to "carry" as well. Just curious.

I saw it in Calgary, It looked good, fit right. I'm not a metal-finisher so looking at all that smoooth tin is really appealing. I dont have the cash otherwise would really consider it.

It looks like a great body to me. Thanks to all the people that made it happen. As long as the parts come from planet Earth, they are OK for my cars. When parts start to be produced on Mars, that is when I am going to be pissed!!!

  18. Price on the 3 piece roof tack strips for the 5W???

  19. I visited the United Pacific booth at LARS year before last. At that time, they had a few pieces on display. I was able to view the workmanship of the pieces and was very impressed. For 5 window deuce owners and lovers, this is very exciting! Even if you never buy a complete body, every piece you would ever need to salvage an authentic body will now be available.

I've been around a long time. It has always been about using what's available. Fortunately, we now live in a time when you can get damn near whatever you need or want. Let's never discourage those who work at bringing us these products. The way I see it, if something about a product is not satisfactory or felt to be appropriate, it is a simple matter for an the individual not to purchase that product. As for me, I'm 100% backing SoCal Sacramento and United Pacific for their efforts! :)

I can't afford a new new one,.....can't afford a 50's traditional all Henry one,.....barely could afford the one I built......still in the building process.....yeah, its fiberglass,....yeah, it's not traditional,....wish it was!.....yeah, it's gotta a SBC.......but you know what...I did it myself and building my own history.......it's about the build!.........I'd buy a steel one in a heart beat...providing I won the lottery! Good deal on building the new one!.....you will sell a few!

The answer is a few pages back. Probably closer to $30K as Brookville is at 25K and SAR was 30K and exited the business.

The body looks like a great piece. UP has definitely stepped up with the investment, I hope it is not too late to the market for them. I think they will sell some bodies, but with so many older hot rodders exiting the hobby or worse yet passing away, there will be a lot of cars coming available. Some will be stashed gennies, a few will be smoothed Easter egg cars that will need to be un-done, that may be more cost effective than going with a UP body.

now that theres enough people on both sides of this, i'll say my piece, even though it's probably mis-spelled. I will be spending my money on americans selling American parts whenever possible. I live in a area that has been taken over by non-americans (I wont say who) and I know for a fact that they don't care about American one bit , and if given the chance would love to have us out of their way. I will not help them by funding this population exchange. hot rodding like jazz, is an American pastime and I don't need parts that dilute this truth. a project like and bob drakes 40 are incredible feat to be sure, but come with to much baggage for me to feel good about it. this is more that just a shape to me. don't close it down because of these facts. it should be part of making a decision to spend money of this amount.

I love to buy american when I can as well, And it is also important to me when it comes to a hot rod. but good quailty is good quailty made here or not. And yes they could have spent more money and done the stamping here, but alot of guys here said that their body was out of their price range now as it is, Instead of the body being 21K if they did it all here they would be 35K.....Look what happened to steve from SAR....maybe he should have checked into stamping over seas and he might still be selling 34 3 window bodies. bottomline is I do not like it anymore than you do, But I do not live on fantasy island, I am fully aware of the real world I live in. I did not make it this way, We all Did!!

You have said exactly what i was thinking! Up here in the rain forest there just aren't many of these bodies to be bought. The couple that i know about cost about the same and THEN needed the body work done.
I be thrilled to have one of these if i could afford it.

great job So-Cal, thanks for continuing to expand in these hard time and for making products that help hot rodders build hot rods. with the savings on your bodies, as compared to the SAR or the Brookville you can buy some history to go in it or under it.

i could buy a body and some real usa magnesium wheels, or an old blower setup, or a whole engine for the price of the other guys.

good job and wish i could see it in person.

Looks like they are finishing up chopping the doors tomorrow at Walden's. Might have the entire chop finished or close to it, by his open house on Friday.
