Not posting this for the Rambler (which I personally find kinda cool) but rather the beautifully restored travel trailer... My next project may be something like this to pull behind my '63 Biscayne.... Would be awesome when rain shows up at a car show !! Cheers....
That is a cool combo. Days of old were the car was truly freedom and pulling a camper was the thing to do are sorely missed.
There are a couple kool books out on these vintage travel trailers, they look like they would be a fun project. Check Books A Million they had two last week. Saw a nice Scotty on eBay for under $1,500.00 a couple weeks ago. They are out there.
Awesome!! Any pictures of the interior? Growing up in the 70s our family vacation was in a 1966 Chevrolet pulling a 10" Shasta like yours. Great memories; enough that when my 17 yr old leaves the house next year, I want to get an early 60's Shasta to pull behind the 62 300 and take the remaining family ( 6yr old, 11 yr old) to see America
that is my ultimate goal with our station wagon. we are headed to a family reunion out west next week and my dream will be to do that in a few years with the wagon and an old travel trailer.
Hmmm, a Rambler wagon pulling a matching Shasta trailer...guess nothing is original idea. Dark pic I know but here's my brothers 59 Rambler wagon/ Shasta combo. He says the Rambler 6 is fine for around town, short hops but he's not up to pulling long distances with it, little weak and slow up the hills.
Some neat rigs here..thanks for showing them... Here is what we traveled around the country with when I was a little Kid... Second picture is what I have been traveling with...My Dad would not believe the difference fershure...(I say have been traveling in, as I recently sold it....cost too much to travel anymore..)
Shastas are hard to find at a good price. Forget about finding a small Airstream at a resonable price. That's a nice Shasta behind the Rambler. You can run into a lot problems with old trailers depending on the make. If you have a roof that leaked, it can rot out the wood. It takes a while to find a good one. This one is a 63 Kencraft. I was looking for a small Airstream when I found it. I ended up stripping the sides down to shinny aluminum and painted the fibergl*** aluminum color. I think the tow wagon does not fall under guide lines of HAMB.
Kencraft interior. I was able to buy the correct globe for the gas light. I also found the correct hubcaps years later.
Cool. OT but my brother is lucky he still has this combo along with a several other cl***ic car/trailers tonight. They are all at his park just down the road from the Royal Gorge bridge. Looks like they will be alright but a tough week for them, fire got way to close.
