I recently purchased a pair of Lokar "universal" e-brake cables and installed them into the rear brakes of a Mopar 8.75 rearend with 10" drums in my 48 P-15 Plymouth Sedan. Yep, too long !! My question; what is the easiest way to shorten these cables WITHOUT first removing them from the braking hardware ??? Thanks for any help that can be provided: C***, alias littlemo...

Wrap in tape where you are to cut and use a good cold chissel on a firm piece of steel. JW

I'm wanting to trim to length the outside wire wrapped covering and leave a longer section of the internal cable to attach to the actuating lever. Could a tube cutter be used to carefully cut the wire wrapped covering leaving the cable itself intact ??

I would wrap the cut to be in tape also and cut it with a thin cut off disc in an angle grinder. Hold the outer firmly. JW

cut the plastic outer coating with a razor blade, the "tube" part is like a coil, bend it a little and cut it with a dremel of cutoff wheel. of course be carful not to cut the cable inside.
