My wife and I will be participating in the 2013 Great Race in our 31 Model A Victoria. The Great Race will start in St Paul, MN on 22 June at the Back-to-the-50s Car Show and finish in downtown Mobile, AL on 30 June. We will rally down the Mississippi, crossing the river 11 times, entering 10 different states, during our 9-day, 2200 mile journey. If you would like to track our progress as well as the progress of the other teams, visit the Great Race Web-Site at: www.greatrace.com and select Scoring at the top of the page. You can also follow the route and by clicking the Schedule tab on the left. At the overnight stops, the cars are displayed until about 8:00 PM if you would like to stop by and see some very interesting vehicles. Stop by and say hello, Bob and Lois Beers, Car #12. This is a fun event.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> Also, as part of the competition, we are also part of the Fight Against Autism Charity. A friend of mine created this charity as a Non-Profit 501 (c) 3 organization in honor of his Grandson who is challenged with Autism. Ever cent he collects is donated to different organizations fighting Autism. There is no overhead and he does not keep a cent of the money collected. If you would like to support the Fight Against Autism, go to https://vcra.ejoinme.org/?tabid=463222 and select the team of your choice to donate, our team is: "Two Beers To Go" Rally Team, Bob and Lois Beers, Car #12. None of the money collected goes to the Rally Teams or the Great Race; it is all goes to the Race Against Autism. Thank you. We appreciate your support.<o></o> Bob
This is something i only found out about not to long ago, and is full of great old rides. Thanks for starting this thread, and if its not to much to ask, how about taking some pics on your journey, and posting them here. Good luck with the Vicky, and stay safe.
allways a good group of people.....best of luck to all running !!! was able to buy some approved 16" radials that ran on a 1935 Ford out of the D/FW area a few years back....
I participated in this back in 1986..Disneyland to Manhattan, in front of the "old" world trade center...lots of fun but VERY EXPENSIVE..5 grand just for entry fee alone..
You'll be in Peoria, IL on the 24th, Oldblue53 and I are planning on taking the day off and heading down town.
Our stop in Germantown on Wednesday, 26 June will be at Municipal Park. The first car should arrive at 5:30 PM and will be on display until 8:00 PM.
I know you'll be driving from Dubuque Iowa to Davenport on Sun, the 23rd;...do you know about when you will go thru Clinton Iowa?...and will you be using route 61?
We don't get our directions until 30 minutes before we start each morning. We just know the Lunch and overnight cities now. We don't know any of the routes as now. Maybe the Chamber of Commerce in each town has a better idea, but thr Great Race folks do all the route planning. Bob
Regarding Germantown, TN. If your Google maps don't show Municipal Park, Search Germantown Performing Arts Center. The park is adjacent (south of) to GPAC.
Car is through Tech Inspection, completed Speedometer Calibration Run, ready for tomorrow's practice rally. Many, many unique cars. Can't add pictures?
Trophy Run on Friday we had a 7 Second Stage, with Age Factor a 5.64 Score, for 11 Position Overall. Stage 1 today was more difficult, 25 Seconds, and with factor, a 20 Second Score. Off to Davenport tomorrow on Stage 2.
