Ok, what's the best method, way, resource, how to, when, where, how, why, etc. to whack a pick up? I just graduated from a welding class so I'm ready to cut and weld something! Tom
Hang around for about a week. I choping my 48 gmc. We start in about 14 hours. PM me and i will save some pics. I'm most likely doing 4in the front 2.5 in the rear and about 3 degress on the windsheld. I'll know after we tike it of.
I also vote for some pics. I've got my eye out for a 48-54 chevy truck cab to chop for next summer cruisin. Primo
Talk to " METALSHAPES" here on the hamb, his name is alex, and he just finished one. thats what he does for a living is chops, and like i said just finished a 47-55 1/2 ton pickup
GRSMNKYCUSTOMS are you running the stock frame on that truck or an s10 frame? what kind of rear suspension are you running on it also?
Did mine in feb 05.The name of the post was "The first cut wasn't the hardest". i don't know if there still there.
getting ready to chop 41 chevy pick up maybe 4" not sure could use some help. I don't want to change angle of wind shield. I have two cabs withdoors to use been talking to some local guys about it. want to get started right away or tomarrow
no s-10 frame, stock frame with camaro subframe, triangulated 4 link in the rear MONSTER c-notch and bags it was all done under 1000. bucks well 1004.00 dollars to be exact
\ Thanks for that site. We will be taking three out of mine soon. Already sectioned it 5 inches. I don't want to lean the windshield back either. THANKS
The window seal we used was some generic Chevy S-10 stuff from the glass shop. Rather than use the old style rubber gasket we glued the windshield in, like a new car. The seal is just decorative. As for V-butting the windshield, that's where the edges that join together down the center are ground so that they fit together, then a thin bead of clear silicone is applied for a watertight seal. Looks good, and no leaks in the rain!
How much did you whack it? I'm considering 4"-5" or anywhere in between. Do you know of a truck that has that much chop and where I can see a photo of it?
Hey, Can that same chop be made without the filler strip added into the middle of the roof panel? Can a pie cut, where the "A-post" and cant rail intersect, be made to work without it takin' on a Studebaker look? Thanx,
