It is/was an accessory grille that had shutters in it to close, or partially close, the radiator to cooling air in extremely cold conditions. Not unlike those used on larger trucks and equipment even today.

Good for him. He found one bidder willing to pay the price he was asking. That's all it takes.

Rare piece,,but as Deuce Roadster use to say "you never pay too much you just buy too soon"

This is way out of my comfort zone. HRP

I don't think it would be a buddy with a phony bid that high. Let's say no one else bids, the seller would end up paying at least 10 % to Ebay, maybe more, so it would be a real gamble.

People are willing to pay whatever it takes to get something they want bad enough.

It was listed a week ago and got 15 bids with a no sale at $9102, reserve not met, ending on 6-9-13. Then it got relisted and it ended today with a buyer

It's only worth what someone will pay for it. Apparently it's worth 9k+ to a guy in Switzerland. It is a very rare piece.

I was looking for 32 grills for the Tudor and I found this one.
    Don't get me wrong...It's a killer Grill...&...I WANT ONE!
Like someone said it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it!
If I sell my car, add some dough, I could hang one on the wall too.

32rustedinpiece - It's a really nice piece! Glad you got good money for it!

My brother sold one 15 years ago for $400 at a swap meet, didnt sell until the end of the day. The funny thing is that all the high dollar duece guys in the area just scoffed at it, ha! If my bro would have only hung it on the wall and forgot about it, lol....

Someone is making repops selling in the $3-4,000 range. I saw a sample at GNRS ... appears to very good quality.

I also saw one on a roadster at the LARS 2013. Winter front ... roadster ... California ... what's wrong with this picture ??

Well, you guys have mountains and snow, so it would be good for a car that gets driven.
