Ok so first start up on fresh rebuild went with a water pump failure. Pully wobbling like crazy promted the emediate shutdown. What I have is a 65 Riviera that was a a/c car the ac is off and Im still running the ac pulleys, and Ive went with non ac alternator bracketry. The water pump was a new a/c water pump with the oultet capped off. Did I do something wrong here or would we guess it was just one of those things that unfortunatley happens.

As long as you didnt have the bolts loose or it was stuck ****eyed when the pulley wet on, it was probably a fluke. Spin the pulleys by hand (crank by starter) to make sure its all running true.

Mine was doing that and it turned out to be a bad fan clutch, the fluid hardened or something, it through the balance off and the waterpump started rubbing on the timing cover, I had to replace both the clutch and waterpump! Brian
