My friend Dale - Micamountain on here - asked me to post these photos in the hopes someone can id the axle. Kingpin centres are 50.5 inches apart, and spring pads are 27.75 inches apart. Dale might use the axle on his 35 Pontiac three window coupe to build it g***er-style. Any ideas?

Your axle is a 1927 or 28 Dodge car axle. Pretty positive on that one.

Use something you can find parts for ,using that will get you nothing but grief.

I believe 1927 was a split year. I think the 1st part they still had no front brakes and the second half they had these. 1926 Certainly still had no front brakes. They used both wood spoke wheels and large solid disc wheels for years.

Take note of the way the spindle mounts to the axle. Dodge axles after 1928 used normal reverse Elliot axles instead of the Elliot type axle like the one you have. An Elliot axle has the axle forking off on the end and going over the spindle, and the Reverse Elliot has the spindle going above and below the axle.
So, If your Dodge axle was made before 1926 it wouldn't have brakes at all, and if it were made after 1928 it wouldn't have the Elliot type spindle attachment. You have a 1927 or 1928 Dodge axle.

You might be able to fit disc brakes to the spindles. There are kits available for certain years.
