my 22 year old daughter loves old cars and we go to car shows together, she is always on me about our 49 packard project, always saying " DAD when are we going to get back to work on the pakard?" and I reply "Right after I get done paying off your college loans!" LOL anyways we are trying to get the old club sedan running, only takes time and money!

Our 20 year old grandson just came over to borrow my wife's 51 Willys 4x4 PU truck. He's going to meet up with his 4x4 buddies and go to a local cruise in place.I believe there's a woman involved....Young woman like old trucks....
He left his modified 03 Dodge Diesel 6 speed with the keys. "If you need to experience 1000 ft lbs of torque, just take it for ride"
He's got a shitload of money into that Diesel engine,he runs a manual tranny,he's a hot rodder ...............:D

Yeah, she was OK. The cop wanted to give her a ticket for not wearing a seat belt. I think that was because she was the only one involved that didn't go to the hospital.

Amazingly even old seat belts work.

I recently just turned 30 and have been around Hot Rods for practically my entire life. Growing up my first interest was basketball followed by cars... Now that my playing and coaches days are behind me, I am 100% obsessed and addicted to everything regarding the Hot Rod culture and I must say that is solely my dad's fault - who is a current member here on the HAMB as well! Guess I could thank him now for the introduction into hobby!

I guess I am lucky(or unlucky depending on your opinion/finances), my 38 year old has been into OLD cars since about 3 years of age. He has an all steel 26 roadster pickup that his uncle originally built. And I will put him up against just about anyone on Stromberg 97s, Vertex magnetos, street rollers, etc.

He has several friends that are into Camaros---but I call them late models. Most of my son's friends are casually interested in older cars but stay away from them primarily due to the amount of work involved and the cost----it's easy to spend $50K on a nice street rod. And, family pressures(kids).

I grew up in the 70's and early 80's (the action figure/video game era) and as a kid/young adult I was without a doubt the most car focused person of my age around. It was not until my mid 20's that I met other car obsessed people my own age.

I saw this because both of my kids (boy, 14 with permit and girl, 16 with license) are into cars, both can ID you basic stuff (difference between tri-5 Chevies & 30's Fords), both can start a carbureted car that has been sitting a while and both have helps with major mechanical jobs (engine and chassis) and gotten really dirty. But neither are as into cars as I was/am.

I have always told them they do not need to be into cars but that I wanted them to know enough about car (and finance, and house repair, etc...) to know when they are being lied to.

My daughter and I just watched a report on the news about women being cheated at repair shops. The show caught a new filter being replaced when it was not needed. The lady asked to see the old filter and they showed it to her (it looked like they drug it on the floor quickly to make it look dirty). The first thing my daughter says is "duh, how come the outside is dirty but the inside is still like new". I was such a proud daddy :)

You don't need a license for children - just failure of birth control  .
My only child , son , 32 , treats all motor vehicles like junk to be further mistreated :( , an appliance to buy used , seldom repair just "fix" and then discard . That attitude permeates his whole life . Oh , for the days a person could be committed without years of courts , lawyers and judges .

both my kids played in the back floorboards of 55 chevys and 67 chevelles. thou I had to get out of it for a few yrs they still kinda liked going with me to look at the old cars.been back into it now for many yrs,my girl is 31 and my son is 29,i think.anyway he works in the hotrod and also the bike shop we have here at the house.he loves old carsbut we have a different cutoff than the hamb.we say 1970.he does all the body work and painting now that I cant and he is also takin over the engine part of it becasuse I cant do it like I used to,.he is happy.he gets to play with hotrods and choppers all day.my daughter well she likes them but she would rather just get in to one and go.says she wants to help in the shop but she always has something else to do.the redneck rumble has turned into a event that our family all goes to. we take 4 or 5 cars with us most times.fun to be in the lead car and look behind you and see your family all drivin old cars right behind ya....
