I have a 1950 Ford and it is harder to steer then a truck. I don't have any idea as to the problem. I have been told it is the steering box, and some have said it's not. Can anyone help me fnd the problem? Thanks Don
Have the alignment checked. Also, check the box if its too tight. What size are your front tires? Is it lowered? Stock front end?
Not much of an intro. This is the page where you introduce yourself as you're supposed to do, not the ask a stupid question page.
Welcome Don. It takes a little getting use to. You just asked your question on the page where you introduce yourself. Your not the first one to do it nor will you be the last. Not a stupid question, In a parking lot mine is not easy to turn. once it rolling it is no problem. There is usually a good bit of play in the steering. You should get the (green bible) ford shop manual 49-51 ford. You can get them on Ebay for around 20 bucks. You can also go to the search section and type in shoeboxford and that will get you to a better area for help
I have found that many of these autos have a large build up of grease/dirt/mud where the king pins mount on the spendal. Just pull front wheel place car on jack stand and see the build up. Over 60 years worth..Good luck
