have a chance to buy a 1948 ford monarch rolling frame, complete with flathead, tranny, diff, heads are stamped c7ra-a.
Keep looking. For a few bux more you can get one with a body on it. That one you are looking at isn't worth $500.00
It's not? I bet it would part out for $1000. Maybe not overnight, but I'm sure you could sell it clean down to the frame and then sell the frame.
I think eaglebeak is nuts. Don't forget that $500 isn't worth $500 anymore. Have you brought that complete rolling chassis home yet? I sure hope so!!
The way I look at this type of deal it thus; Do I need it? Do I want it? Will waiting for a better deal cost me in time on money? What are the chances that I will find a better deal? Don't ask someone else their opinion, they will have different answers to "your" questions. On a personal level, I don't have need or desire to own it, so I wouldn't even pay scrap price for it. (worst case I'd want to be able to take it to the scrap yard for a profit) Buy it and have fun with it!
Does it start? 1500 could buy a complet(rough)48. But a grand wouldnt buy whats sitting there indiviually.
If your planning on parting it out or flipping I'd pass ... if it is just exactly what you need using ALL pieces and parts then I'd say "Why Not" ... but to just buy it for the engine/tranny doesn't make sense unless you have a buyer for the rest ... like someones said, find the whole car for that price.
Yeah, its also worth if you want to build an av8 too. Breaks, rims, torque tube, rearend, rear radius rods, engine trans...then sell the frame separately Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
thanks for the replies guys, since I posted this been talking to the seller, got him down to 900.00 and still trying for a better price.
Whether its a good buy or not depends on what you want to do with it. Do you have a body in mind to put on the chassis, or do you just want it for the parts?
If the engine turns over and the block is still good, it would be worth picking up for parts. Try to get him down to $500 or so.
That's worth a grand all day long as far as I'm concerned. If these guys were the ones selling it you know it would be too!
That's right. Just break it down. Engine= $300 (if good?) Rear = $50 Wheels= $100 axle = $20 Spindles= $75 Brakes = $ 100 Frame = $ 300 Wishbone $ 50 Just what I listed here adds up to about a grand,at modest prices, and I left a lot of stuff out. If you need it, $800 would be a good deal.
a grand is close, but i'm cheap. try and beat him up a little. 7 of 8 if u can use most of it should be a deal.
If you are into that style of stuff...buy it.... $900 doesn't really buy much any more, especially a complete rolling chassis with engine and trans.. Just do it...
I would go for it for around 5 bills to part out. It's worth more than that but there has to enough room in the deal for me.
If that were fairly local and fired up and ran I'd give $1000 for it. Location changes price a lot. Things in urban California go for more than podunk redneck shitville.
