Never get tired of hearing from a master of design, always a well planned execution of flow. Great interview, thanks.

    Jive-Bomber Jay -

    Good interview!

I wasn't a bit surprised by Chip's answer to your question regarding Traditional Rods & Customs:

... as he had a hand in writing portions of the script for a documentary series on the history of Hot Rodding (which he narrated) ... see my HD Theater's "AMERICAN ICON - the Hot Rod" TV series thread.

Looking forward to Part II of your interview!

I have never met the man, but have cousin's who have. In fact over lunch discussed building a Henry J convertible! My cousin was stumped on how to work out the rear-behind the seat area. [look at a Henry J and you will see the problem] Well Chip quickly sketched out the solution on a napkin [of course] in just a few minutes. Just part of the conversation.

I appreciate Foose's craftsmanship, but I feel that we should cherish the good old American styling of the '30s through the '50s. The automotive designers of that era are some of the best artists of the last century. If some part of a car looks "heavy", it's supposed to be that way. Most prewar and postwar American cars are bold, simple, and masculine. Modern styling violates this look and in my opinion ruins what were once great looking automobiles.
