Customs Lace painting tale from Freddy Vette Cruise night

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dolmetsch, Jun 20, 2013.

  1. Tonight I took in the Picton Freddy Vette Cruise Night. Freddy is a local radio DJ and musician and when he does a cruise night everyone comes. I saw many folks I only normally see in Belleville. One was my friend Carl and his wife Mary. Carl has a early 50s chev Convertable and he likes customs leaning a bit towards the lead sled style. His Chevy is in that tradition. Tonite I noticed on the hood a double lace painting in red. "Ah Carl" I said. I see you borrowed the table cloth to do some painting." "Not this time!" Mary said. "He had to buy his own." "What do you mean, not this time?" I asked. Mary told us that when they were first married her Aunt had given them a beautiful lace table cloth as a wedding gift. One day when she came home from work she noticed it wasnt on the table. She said she didn't think it much off it figuring Carl may have spilt something on it and removed it to clean it. When he came in she asked him He led her to the garage and proudly showed her his masterpiece. His first lace painting on his 69 Dodge Dart. Over in the corner was that beautiful table cloth ruined forever. While Mary is telling this story Carl is looking at the ground shaking his head. It was one of those great moments in hot rodding. I wish I had videoed it cause it would be viral by morning I think!

Need a pic to go with the story. There is a fellow in the area who has a 60's Cuda that looks like it is the original lace still.
