Can anybody give me an idea how to open the hood on a 40 Chevy Sedan when the cable is rusted and won't pull. The hood and grill are in good condition and I don't want to ruin them.
Had the same problem, but my cable broke at the end that was attached to the release at the front. Took a long thin screwdriver (piece of metal will do) and slip it between the hood and the grill (small gap) and push on the release holding the latch. It should release, unless the latch is frozen solid too. Had this happen twice to me and got a stronger cable.
Thanks for the idea tallt. As I look at it I think it will probably take a thin metal bar with the end bent down about 1/4 to 1/2" to engage with the latch. I'll let you know how it works.
Just find one of those 14 year olds that they arrest on Bait Car. They will have it open in no time. I bought a car one time with no ignition key and it took me all day to pop the ignition out and I almost destroyed the column. Yet some of those kids could have had that out and the car gone in 10 seconds flat. Don
