So, obviously, new to this message board.. looked up a few pointers on here a while back workin on a buddys 53 chevy and turned out fairly helpful, after sifting through the s talk of course. well after many many years of searching for a ride and constantly being a day late n a dollar short, I finally scored me a 52 buick super. yes, its a 4 door and to be quite honest i dont give a rats ass. Ive read all the comments and s talk on 4 doors so save the angry finger pecking.. hahaa. The car was originally from Utah so she has her fair share of rust. Shes ran 8 years ago and has been parked out in the wide open since. At least thats the story i got. I pulled the plugs and squirt some lube inside the cylinders, the motor turns over by hand. fairly easy tho.. I understand this has the "lever" shocks, I've never dealt with these. Does anyone have some tips on maybe rebuilding these or should i say forget it and and weld in some shock tabs and go with standard shocks. or just bag it.. And if anyones got any more tips or special surprises i should look out for Id really appreciate.. I'll get some more pics up and hopefully next weekend have her painted, or at least in primer. Thanks for reading my novel
Welcome BigOl. Had many of those old Buicks from 1949 up to maybe 1956.. They were decent riding cars back when I could pick them up for $100. Always amazed how smooth and quiet they were. Have fun with it. I probably liked my 53 2-dr the best.
Thanks for the welcome.. i really dig those old buicks, my favorite is the 50 fast back with that burley bulldog grille! Just found a whole section on those lever shocks.. now to buy a case of wd-40 and start soaking bolts.. she be rusty
Hey there BigOl' - welcome to the HAMB. Nice intro, and I hope you enjoy all the time you spend here. I'm sure you'll love your Buick no matter how many doors it's got. As for gettin' answers to all your questions, you should probably start a thread over on the message board. The intros page is really just to announce yourself to the forum - tick that box.
