Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by model A hooligan, Jun 23, 2013.

  1. Okay so my coupe has been red oxide primer for years.had a pin striper do traditionsl stripes on it to and the rear body was fading.I like the color and stripes so I devided to clear it.

It came out fine except it looks to perfect.I cleared over the cars blemmishes so its just to perfect of a shine now.I understand everyone with the foux tina and what not.but I just wanted to preserve what was there.any tips to get a little less shine? Wet sanding would leave ut looking white wouldnt it?

Sanding with a foam 3000 grit disc on a da leaves a really nice even matte finish. As already stated you can also try blending paste and a rag... Maybe even wash it with some ajax and a gold scotch brite pad...

Try using Barkeepers Helper. It a very fine abrasive and easy to use. Supermarkets have it.

Grey scotch brite pad or respray it with flattened clear

  9. Don't sanding it leave it milky looking? If its not polished correct?

Hm lot of things mentioned here, all sound like decent ideas.never heard of the barkeep stuff or blending paste.ill need to check those out

  10. I have been letting it get dusty and wipe it off dry but its not doing much at all

  11. update-used water and very fine steel wool, dulled it right up.going to use toothpaste or blending paste to take some of the streaks out but it did work.I'm already a lot happier with it
