Not sure why but I have an urge to put a set of wire mesh covers on my 54 kind of like you would see on the early Vettes. Just wanted to see if that would be strange or maybe cool. I have not seen any picture of other cars running these but if you have some post them up. Thanks.
Those make more sense than those tri bar things or the visors with the gl*** jewel. wish I had them over my Bullseye lens head lamps when the stone got throw up.
Very cool! There is a guy who likes to drive his car. I hope someday to have the time to do some of the things he has done.

That's how I was thinking. I'm looking for a more rugged street racer look than a blinged out low rider.
I had them on my '63 Corvair Spyder back in the 60's...more of a sports car thing, but I'll bet the '54's that ran in the Panamericana used them. (Then again, I'm not sure if I ever saw a '54 Chevy in those races.) I'd say go for it.
I had them on my 48 in the 70's until they rusted and got ugly. They do do a great job of protecting headlights and are pretty well standard equipment for a lot of guys in Alaska from what friends who have spent a lot of time up there have told me.
we been using them on VW's for decades, check local VW/dune buggy/off road racing shop if ya need em.
I have a pair left over from an O/T TR6. Got them from N O S Locators on evil bay. Just went there. They cost less now than when I bought them in 2006!
Well I think I may get a pair and see how they look. I'll have to see if I can find a stainless set to avoid future rust. I'll post some pictures in the future.
One of my first cars was an O/T bugeye Sprite. It had a set on it that were, well...rusted! I rattle canned those flat black, and they looked pretty cool. Now, I gotta tell you, after having them on two different cars, you are going to notice a change in the way the light looks coming from your headlights. The light seems a bit diffused, but you can still see OK.
I think they look stupid unless you are building an African cross country desert racer. not my style of hot rod.
Check with Halcyon. They are in the UK and make some great accessories for bikes and cars and their riders and drivers. I mounted a pair of their 7" wire mesh headlight covers on the roadster. It took a bit of fitting, but they look and work great.
They were very big with the Sporty Car crowd in the 50's-70's. You would get them from places like M.G. Mitten or Vilhem B. Hahn. JC Whitney may have even carried them. Type in Headlight Stone Guards on google and you'll find them
