Josh, you are free to post here as long as you don't push your racial view points. We simply don't tolerate that kind of thing. The HAMB is about hot rods - not drama.

Well a good thing is by the time you get your body it will have gone up in price and value so that $24k could be more like $30k.....so i suppose theres a good deal there somewhere ??? Still if i had the money i would order one........

If you don't like the price of the new bodies you can always make one yourself. I've been going to Brookville Roadster for over 25 years (when Ray Gollahan was working out of a shop the size of a dime store in downtown Brooville). I've got nothing but admiration for this business. It was built the old fashion way, hard work and reinvesting back into the business. They have accomplished what many others have only dreamed about or failed at.

So, take a couple of hundred dollars, buy some sheet metal, make a few patch panels to sell, reinvest the money into a couple of dies to make more parts, take the profit off those and build a die to make a fender, then.............. You get the picture. It's easy really, just ask any gold chainer multi-millionare who started with nothing at 19 years old and finds himself at age 70 with more money than he ever thought possible. I've got a saying that covers all of this, "only in America". Of course I wouldn't ever dream of eliminating the whiners who always seem to cry "poor me", that might eliminate the need for a few bars where we can go to solve all of the world's problems. I'm going to ask Ray Gollohan the next time I see him why he didn't start Brookville Bar and Grille instead of taking on all of those headaches that come with running a hot rod business. I'm guessing that he will suddenly realize how wrong it was to go down the path he chose.

    I hear you Frank........

I am always amazed at some folks who moan about the price of parts. That's WHEN they are trying to buy..........but the minute it is theirs.......the value doubles..... :D

Or the folks who complain about 32 Fords......and their prices.....

It is the plain old " Law of supply and demand "
Manufacturers reproduce what People WANT........are you Upset that nobodys makes a new steel fender for a 1937 uglymobile.....guess what.......you are the ONLY one wanting one.....

If you want new steel.......you gotta pay.....if you want old original 32 Ford steel........you gotta pay...... :)

    Hey Rodger,

I got a quote from them @ the time that Marc, Luc & Marcel Built the Aluma Truck for Boyd-They used my 29 A truck cab for all of the A-pillar firewall, gastank & door measurements-Sh*t they even cut off my hinges w/o my permission:mad: .
Back in the mid 80's when they were still in Orange County-Anaheim they built a guy (Gary Gillete?) a 32 3W from scratch for $10k. Bodies were going for $8k that needed work. He had a body and wanted them to repair it.They talked him in to just letting them built it from scratch.
I saw this body in the raw (Many mods done-including the chop), the dash is way hi-tech-as was the rest of the car.
When no one & I do mean no one,was making 32 body panels a friend & I spent some time talking with Luc, Boyd was just having them make the 1st boydster, but didn't like the way the rear bustle was coming out, so they whipped up another in about a 3-5 days. I believe they still have the orig:confused: My friend had a 32 cowl & wanted to make an all steel roadster. Luc said no problem, I'll have em for you asap. they were cheap by todays standards.=$1500.00 for 2 complete 1/4's(=needed triming though @ time of actual mounting). He later did door skins as well as the panel behind the seat & the lower rear panel, I can't remember if he did the deck lid:confused: .
@ that time I only had a 32 firewall & inquired as to what a whole body could cost totally ***embled with exact stock dimensions.
As I remember it would have been between $8-9k no-options.
if I was patient, or I could have one like they whipped up for Frank Currie for $12k right then-(That one went to Ca. St. Rods). Marcel & Sons were just starting their body deal with Kugel for the Muroc rdstrs,so there was alot of excitement in the air & they are artists, they don't like stock bodies.
I felt purchasing a house was a better move so I put that off for a long while. (I own a 1/4 gennie,3/4 Brookville rdstr body @ present) under $10k. They did *****en work. I talked to Luc when I bought my house and inquired as to what it would cost to build a Chopped 34 3-W from scratch, even then it was like $13k.
Here is where the cost comes in, he advised me that I would have to either beg, borrow or steal a "Good" example (this is how they built the deuce rstrs & my friend bought the glas body "buck") so they could get all of the curves in the right places as I wanted this to be a replacement body for one that I sold several years before & still had the ch***is.
He wasn't lying when he said to be patient, because no sooner did I buy the house (a month later) & I found a steel 3W body. 3 months after that I bought my "barn fresh" 3-W coupe and still yet found/bought an even rarer one (34Hupp W-417 3W Coupe)=all Murray built Ford designed tooling;) .
I have held parts in my hand while Luc has beed rolled in detail in these deuce peices. It did not take Luc very long to bring these panels to life.
Marcel has taught his boys well and has the right brain & metal forming equipment (store bought & custom made & designed) and most importantly ability to make this stuff w/o killing the customers bank book-he just better have a good size balance.:D
To the tune of over $24K. I don't think so, because they know that there is a lot of up & coming talent that can make this happen too just for the challenge of doing it. They like to eat too. Ask Luc where he'd rather be & he'd say "Flying, this metal stuff is just a job"
The only way one would know now is to get them to quote them a price.
    Take care Rodger,
and hope ta talk ta ya again sometime,
    Kevin;)
