Seemed like that part of the country was getting hit by bad storms..any problems (hopefully not) at the show?
The weather was decent during the day. Seemed like the storms hit at night, early morning. The turn out for cars was disappointing. A lot of rat rods, 80's built customs & streetrods. The count was high for cars but the quality lacked. I think a lot of people didn't bring their cars out due to the weather. Been going top BTT50's for the last 20 years, I would say this was the most disappointing one Iv'e been to with being the 40th anniversary and all!
This pic was taken from our motel room window after the storm on Friday night. The old boat you see was pushed through the parking lot by the wind! It wasn't hooked up to a vehicle. It shot across the parking lot! Winds were 85 mph! Some crazy **** this last weekend! I talked to a few people at the show, one guy said he saw a roadster floating down the street, water was so high!
I was not disappointed. No way could I see all the cars in two days and I walked for hours. Lots of cars I didn't like, but I just walk on by and focus on the ones I do like.
Not disappointed. If you see something you don't like you just walk 30 feet to something you do. Been there since '96 at least and it was good as ever. Sorry to the ones that suffered because of the rain but always like it when it rains. Gets the spectators out of the way and clears the streets of the guys that think their car is going to melt in the rain.
Holy ****, the 34 coupe is cool, the '29 roadster is cool and the 54 Vette is cool. Drool drool drool.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with you! It seemed that there were twice as many rat rods as last year plus a lot of just plain junk cars. Stuff fresh out of the salvage yard, all rusted to hell, burning oil so bad they stunk up the whole fairgrounds. I also noticed a lot less cruising going on, in years past I didn't try to cruise around the fairgrounds because of so many cars on the street, this year there were more people on the streets than on the sidewalks. Strange! Are people that short on gas money?
It was a great turnout considering the kind of weather we had. Camped in the north campgrounds all weekend. Luckily the roadster survived the weather. Had a great time and am looking forward to next year already!
The weather channel was bang on Friday night,,they said 8pm and sure enough thats when we started getting pounded with 60mph winds and torrential rain and hail...even my glove box had water in it....water was getting blown right through my any leak in my truck,,weather during the days was great... watched the storm from my hotel room... No idea what this car is but some fine body work and polishing
To each his own! I'm more into traditional rods & customs, didn't see many. Looking at the pix from billet proof a few weeks ago it looked like they had some nice looking traditional built hot rods and most of them had Minnesota plates on them. Didn't see many that were at that show. I usually take around 300 pix and I only took around 90 pix this year.
MN ACME guy David. Great guy and club. Caddy engine plus a lot of other cool stuff. Jazz1, I can't believe I missed your binder. I spotted a few but missed yours. Oops!
