Looks to be about 1926 or 1927 GM product standard cap, possibly. Like maybe a Buick without the lady or the Chevrolet without the bird or Pontiac without the Indian head? Just a wag. I say that only because the base looks very similar to the GM caps of the era.
I went the GM way - Chevy, Pontiac, and Buick - no luck. And I don't believe it's a Minerva either. I know I have seen one before but I didn't have this one when I saw the last one. If anyone has any other suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I believe it is a Packard, about 1929... I helped restore one last year... Did the restoration of the radiator cap myself. I will see if I have a pic to back that up, but look around the internet and you should find one. Is it for sale? If so show me the bottom view, please. Any cracks or bad brass? Is the brass on the bottom?
Here are a couple, Kinda POOR though, of the one I restored. I will try to stop by it's location one day next week and get you a good pic.
I knew this group would able to identify it. Now I will have to determine whether I want to sell it. Hmmm
Jeff, that cap was found on the "price leader" Packards (shorter wheelbase/cheaper car), which might make it harder to find- I know that many of the Packard guys would stop by Dad's 726 sedan to look at his cap
Correct, A 626 to be exact! But even at that a "Standard" Packard was very "artsy-fartsy" (& heavy) compared to a Chev or Ford of the era... In my old & weathered opinion...
