the snout definitely looks 1950s, but the pulleys almost look like tom beatty ones. talk to Al Bundy on here. i'm pretty sure he has one of those and, if not, he knows more about the early superchargers than anyone else i know!
same guy. he did a lot with the v-belt pulley systems for superchargers. here is a good example we have sitting in the back. the closer i look, though, the more it looks like a cragar though. here is a pic of an early one (not mine):
Jealous? Youv'e got a nice 4-71 setup with a Cragar drive. Could be anywhere from late 50s to late 60s.
Yeah i picked it, and a magneto with four new caps over the weekend. Does anyone know what kind of boost it will put out with equal size pulleys top and bottom. Both are six inch OD.
Looks like you got the same setup I got... looks like Cragar, but with no cast logo. I'd like to know who made these, also. Mine is on a Weiand intake with Weiand back plate, FYI. My digging suggests that a 1:1 4-71 on a SBC will put out about 5-lbs of boost... that's what I'm banking on, since it goes on my 327 in the next few weeks!!
They don't have Cragar logo cast onto the snout like a true Cragar does, but otherwise look the same... so did someone else use the same molds? Seems weird to me.
I remember asking you about that setup. Walden Speed Shop is repopping them now. Louie and I were looking at his last night thinking maybe someone did a knock-off way back when.
The castings are a bit rough, pitted, which makes me think home-made knock-off. Maybe they all look like that in person? Just had a rough life?
Andy brizio remade the cragar blower drive with no cragar logo in the late 60s early 70s with the t bucket craze ,,,,I have a sbc 471 intake that says Andy
Tom Beatty Automotive Engineering? Tom usually had the company name on his blower drives, but, as someone noted above, so did Cragar. So I vote for Tom Beatty...
