Pop Culture is just a name for the defining of the entire spectrum of ideas, at***udes, images and other phenomena that is mainstream within a given time period of Western ways, particularly in the mid 20th century. In other words it is just the recounting of what was actually happening, a historical accounting. To not be a fan means you are not a fan of an entire time spread and generation - it is Not confined to any small sub culture, like Hippies.
But like I said, at least on the West Coast, there was nothing derogative about the term as it was used in that time period, in fact it was a term of endearment and it was not unusual for a female to say she was someone's Old Lady. Like many words or phrases the meaning changes over time, no different than "Gay" (once meant happy, now means homo***ual), "Cops" (once considered a derogative slang term), "Queer" (meant peculiar, now means homo***ual), "*****" used to mean a mistake, now - well you know. etc.

Movinman introduced me to "Mrs Nads" at the Monterey Club. I'm forced to agree with his ***essment.

My wife says I wasn't that fat when she married me. I told her she was full of ****...Then I checked some old photos...

 

Here's my little honey ..This was at the Turkey Run '12..and it was uncomfortably cold driving to the show...She hangs in there ,though she's requested a roof ,trunk & a heater on the next one...
I guess the car is my "main squeeze" as I shoulda built it with a little more legroom..!!!
