Hello everyone, My name is Omar from So Cal. I'm new to HAMB. Anyway, I bought a 54 Plymouth Plaza at the End of August and hooked up with Vini Bergeman of Orange County to transform this ride. In the last 4 weeks we have chopped the top, purchased a 1994 Caprice cop car with the Corvette LT1 engine, pulled the body off the plymouth and stripped the Caprice and have swapped it......with a little fitting work ofcourse. The wheel base was 116" on both. Anyway we are a month into it and should be cruising around in Los Angeles in another 2 weeks. Currently choosing colors, a new grill and changes to the rear. More pics to follow.....

Omar: Hello from the west coast of Florida

The chop looks just about right.

Nice work and it's sitting perfect.

Best of luck with the project. Jimbo

    Hey 54Plym...

Doing the same thing here in Chicago. The ratty old frame and flathead 6 in our '53 Chrysler T&C prompted me to drop the body and interior onto a complete 2005 Durango chassis (5.7 Hemi, AWD). We'll be using it to haul our '54 Airstream trailer, so the disc brakes, 5-spd trans and factory heavy duty tow package will be icing on the cake. Hoping to even retain cruise control for cross-country road trips.

Look forward to seeing more photos of your project, looks like it has gone fairly quick and without much drama. That's refreshing to see.

Here is a picture of the car as of 10-15-12. The Plymouth is on the caprice chasis, electrical complete, glass installed tomorrow. Chrome Steering column and wheel is in, car is being tuned up. Working on reworking the fenders so that the turning radius works perfect, we may have to get thinner and smaller white walls tomorrow. Now that the car was channeled 6" and chopped 6", I was forced to get fiero seats that sit on the ground. We are also installing Cadillac long tail lights this week.

the 6" wheels wont fit in the back because the Caprice chassis was wider than plymouth. Time to flare the fender an inch on each side. so much work to gain an inch and I will have to make the mild bubble in the back removable in order to change a flat, removing the skirt will not allow the clearance to remove the wheel.

Welcome from oregon. I have a 54 plymouth too. Your stuff is inspirational. But you should post it in The main forum and start a build thread. This is The intro page and doesnt get as much traffic. Good luck

What wbrw32 said - it looks like an interesting build thread, even though you'll cop some flak from the self-appointed tradition-police, but start a thread over on the main Message Board. Don't worry about the fact you've already posted pics, most of the members won't have seen them 'hidden' over here on the intros page.
Apart from that, welcome, and congrats on getting your car up and running so quick.
    Cheers.

Hey man, that looks real good! I have a 54 Plaza too, but mines a Suburban. Was thinking, since you're in the LA area as well, if you got any left over parts you'd sell?
