Metal luggage box info

Bought this today from a older gentleman he told me its a after market luggage box for model A s and such , just curious i just thought it is cool , thanks for the info if any

 

It's a "trunk".

 

Actually, that looks more like a large aftermarket toolbox from the 20's- would be bolted to the back half of a running board

Yea kinda of a ****py pic , Has or had a wooden bottom
