Safe travels, sir! Let us know when you get in the Calgary area, and I'll buy you and your bride a steak. Your Chebby is a big reason why I bought mine, and I'd love a photo of them together.

I got to shake your hand at Bonneville last year, I'd love to do it again in my own town. We'll try to clean the place up a little for you.

The last time I posted pictures was Sunday with Tman. Monday we headed out to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park and Deadwood SD.

On the road up the Mountian there is a nice turnout that presented a nice Photo Oppertunity.

The view from the visitor center gives a lot more of the incredible detail of the sculture.

I think that this lovley face ought to be added to the sculpture.

She doesn't seem to think so though.

The last time I was at Crazy Horse it was not anywhere near as complete as it looks today. The family has taken over for the deceased father who started this project the face is now complete but there still is a Loooonnnng way to go and at this rate it will take until 2050.

This is a scale model of the finished project, it should be spectacular.

Then on to Custer State Park where we encountered a huge herd of these magnificant creatures and a whole bunch of young ones. They blocked the road and all we could do was wait for them to move.

We stumbled accross this place in Deadwood SD, Food, Booze, Rooms, Antiques, and best of all ICE CREAM.

On the way out of Deadwood I noticed that the voltmeter was only putting out 10 1/2 volts. We called ahead to the NAPA store in Gillette Wy. They recommended Bud's auto repair. Got there abuot 5:15 and made an appointment for 7 am. Turns out the alternator was toast. Got an new one and we were on our way at 10 am. Almost a day behind though. On the way to Cody Wy. we noticed this sign and had to stop for ICE CREAM.

Naming a town Ten Sleep seems a little strange until you read this sign.

By the time we finally got to Yellowstone it was raining pretty hard so we had to forego some of the planned stops, this is the world famous Fishing Bridge.

We did get to see the lower yellowstone falls.

There are mountian goats in the park also.

I still can't get over how big these critters are.

Old faithfull is as spectacular as ever, here are a few pictures.

    To be continued.

Seems there is a 20 picture limit, so here are the last 2.

Damn Elk turned around and put it's head down just as I took the shot. Oh well, it's still an Elk.

Made it Driggs Id at 11:30 last night and had breakfast with Tex Smith, he is back in the states to gather material for his autobiography and history of Hot Rodding book. Haven't seen the old fart since we went to Australia in 2010.

We are now in Baker City Or. Heading for Portland and then to Bellingham Wa to get on the Ferry Saturday morning.

  14. Nice shots Bob! looks like you are making time. Remember, do not try to pet the Buffalo, they have been known to kill folks and can destroy a truck!

I saw your car at '50s and barely recognized it. I'll keep watching your progress, also. Sounds like a great time!

Going to be watching this one. I drove up in 85 in my pickup & in 05 on my Goldwing. Its a great drive, 8500 miles in one month with all the scenery you can handle. This should be a great trip. Keep us posted.

:D Wow this is one great adventure. Have a safe trip !!! I noticed you have Calgary and Winnipeg in your plans. I live in Regina, Sk., 'bout halfway between the two cities and would certainly buy you a pizza and beer(s) if you were stopping here. Also will be glad to take you on a garage tour . Don't know what your schedule is but in Brandon Manitoba, ('bout 100 miles out of Winnipeg on the # 1 hiway) weekend of Aug. 2,3, 4 is "Super Run" . A bunch of our group will be caravaning to Brandon on the Friday and you are welcome to join us. Just a heads up you should check road conditions from Banff Alberta to Calgary if you plan to go that way since severe flooding has cut off the hiway at the present time. I will pm you my cell number if you wish to stop in Regina or need any assistance.

  19. It was highway one at Canmore, I believe it's open now, at least one lane. Sounds like a great trip you've got going, enjoy!

So, my old mind says you are going from Haines Jct towards Anchorage so you will be going thru Beaver Creek where my friend Sid lives.
The road from Haines Jct to Beaver Creek goes thru swampland and is very
    bumpy and rolling frost heaves.
