We had about 1/2 hour of this pelting the entire town. I was in my Corvair and only had about 5 minutes of exposure before heading under a bridge to wait out the storm. The Corvair had no hail damage but my 2001 Dodge truck got peppered bad and my wife's Jeep got destroyed. Gotta love 1960 steel!
an entire GMC dealer down here in Louisiana got hit bad about a month ago. Every car on the lot is torn up!
my cousin bought a brand new car from a dealer that also had every new car badly damaged. He didn't care about dents, he just wanted a new car for long commute each day. He picked one with a light color
I have seen this same thing happen out in the Dallas area a few times. Crazy to drive by dealerships with rows of cars destroyed from a hail storm. This is the reason you see so many car ports in Texas to protect motor homes and cars from hail storms. Jimbo
That's ironic...Snow balls from heaven beats them full of dents...then some of the panels are reshaped/shrunken with dry ice.
Shane our weather has been realy iffy and spotty all year. Glad your corvair made it ok! I nad my 38 knucklhead at work and out last night and did not get a DROP of rain yesterday in west bend. Have a great day Gary
I heard that the Merrill area has a lot of cars all beat to hell by hail. I'm over east of Mosinee and we just got a little rain off and on during the day yesterday.
I can see it now, the "Baleigh Hail Dent Puller". Sounds like you're gonna' have WAY too much practice at it! God Bless old steel!
my 53 set outside for 20 plus years,,it went through many hail storms...doesn't have a single hail dent..
Yeppers, today's vehicles are built with thinner steel, and many low crowned panels that don't hold up th hail peltings On a positive note, I'll bet the paintless dent '' hail teams '' are gonna have a GOOD summer. Too bad many of the really beat up vehicles will probably ''total'' " Humpty Dumpty was pushed "
There is a white KIA here in central OK with that very tag - and it has some serious hail damage! I think it's "***ELST" on the tag. I'm guessing "***LIST" won't make the cut!
I got stuck in a storm last night. Hailed for about 5-10 mins, pulled into a bank drive thru. Luckily no damage. That old steel is alot tougher than the new stuff. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
well the dodge should get better milage from the golfball effect of the dings , one way to look at it .
We had a freak hail storm here in central MS about 3 months ago. You cannot believe the amount of money one of these things costs.I had 8k vehicle damage, 12k home damage and 103k (yes) damage to the roof of our commercial complex. We had baseball size hail puncture the commercial roof. It took me 3 weeks to get windshields, my home roof is just now getting done and I can't get a vehicle in the body shop until October. We had 25 out of town paintless dent guys set up, not counting those independent shops brought in and you would not believe the number of out of state roofers. That's right, everybody in the storm path gets a new roof and some of this was driven almost horizontally by the wind and it got gl***,a/c units, siding, shutters, etc, etc. It's mind boggling when you run the numbers.
