Thanks to everyone who attended the pileup this year. It seems like the show has become bigger and bigger every year, which may be good and bad all at the same time. This year 836 cars and bikes rolled through the gate, not counting some of the volunters... The good thing is, as long as HAMB'ers show up, the cool, family knit, laid back, feel will prevail. Its all you guys that roll through the gate with the cars that you have been working on all year that make the show a great one. We, the Chrome Czars, ended up as the custodians of the show and have tried hard to enforce and uphold its values and guide it to its current state. Its real HAMB'ers like Irritant(Heath) Abomber30(Andy/Marty and Sons) MikeLeadFoot(Mike Dowling) Continental John and Mike Zenor who were some of the reasons the first show got rolling. They were the ones who gave the pileup the start that it needed. We just provide a location and some music and beer, its all you guys that make the show what it is today. Seriously, cool people make a cool show. Its a chance for everyone to get togther talk cars, hang out, and have a good time. No drama, no trophies... its bigger than those things.. its about the cars. Thanks to everyone who showed up.. Thanks to everyone who helped us out... Thanks for making a great show Thanks, The Chrome Czars Motor Club, Jester, Magnet, Django, Hellfish
even though i'm always running around so much that i never get to see the cars at our own show... i still had the best time. All the work is totally worth it. Rashy, it was nice to finally meet you. Tyler, it was great seeing you again... even though I neglected to buy you that beer I promised. I guess I'll have to do that at the Rouundup. Thanks to everyone for coming and braving the cold (mid 50s at it's warmest), behaving themselves, and helping make the Pileup the best damn show around. BTW, we think 836 is a conservative... it's just the official count. And special thanks to the crazy Suede who left one of the Dakotas in 15" of snow... in an OPEN ROADSTER... just to come to the Pileup!
Suedes really rocked.. they really really stepped up to the plate for us. Thanks a ton Suedes. A top shelf organization them Suedes.
Yo, Magnet- I said the very same words today when me and the guys were talkin' about the Pile-up, cool people do make a cool show. And you know who you are. It was great hookin' up with all our old friends and all the cats we met for the first time. It's kinda wild when you feel more at home when you're not at home. The Pile-Up has some kinda mojo workin' unlike any other. I really get this feeling there is some kind of history being made when I'm at your gig. Thanks right back at ya! We will see ya next year, hopefully sooner. Frankie- Speed Kings Car Club
The show was great !! I only have one complaint.I went to get my show shirt and you did'nt have any in my size.I should have got one as soon as I walked in but I did'nt think all the XXL would be gone in just a couple of hours.I should have my six rolls of B/W pics from the show back in a couple of days for everyone to view.
Great Show Guys My wife and I thank you all.Next year I'll bring the Hamb beans and cornbread. Thanks again Bart (moontripper)
I've been going to shows since I was a kid and participating for about 10 years with various rides, mainly 4x4s. I will have to say it was one of the best shows that I have ever been to, even with the cold weather. It was definetely worth the 4 hour drive without heat to get there. I am so glad that I took my car as apposed to the wife's fuel saving Acura. Totally surprised by the lack of attitudes and other crap. Not a single thing there wasnn't right for the show. I will add it to my must to attend list of shows. Thanks for the good time.
Thanks to everyone who came to the show. The HAMB is vital to the Pileup. It was born here. Thanks to HotRodChassis for helping us look for the missing chair and hocking the Huckster merch. Thanks to all the guys from the various clubs that pitched in. Thanks to all the ladies who worked just as hard if not harder. Without all the love, support and teamwork, the Pileup would be just another show with a few cool cars. Seems like every year we order twice as many shirts and yet we always sell out. This year we tried to be prepared, but some sizes went right away. We'll be selling the shirts we have left online. The official Hunnert Car Pile Up panties seemed to do well, if not for their intended purpose, than for ear muffs! Can I say muff and panties in the same sentence? I said this in another thread, but on Sunday a bunch of us went to the Lion's Club show on Sunday. It was a nice show, had lots of really nice cars, but the contrast between the two shows was really obvious and I felt really proud of what the Pileup has come to mean to alot of people, us included.
It was awsome.... as usually... My favorite moment was when Johnny Jean Jacket drag raced Dylan in front of Fools...... haha
You guys put on one hell of a show. This was my first pileup, and wont be my last! It's to bad I was so busy checking out all the cool rides to find the meet and greet.
The Pileup is by far my favorite show...Period!!! You guys do a great job. I have talked to several people who attended and everyone talks highly of your show; in fact I can't remember hearing a negative comment from anyone at the show or afterwards. It's awesome how all the people there get along so well even tho they are from all walks of life and all ages. Keep up the great work and here's to many more Pileups!! Thanks again.
Big Thankies to all you CCs for staging another great show -- Magnet, Hellfish, Django, 57wagon, Dumb Whore & the whole gang. Best one yet. Snaps up in a circle to plowboy for getting the Lunar Lander to the show -- and for locating the best porn shop dashboard statuette you've ever seen. Bows to all you brass-nutters (CAS, Milt, bobbleed, nummnuts, MaxWedge, JohnnyCola, et al) who braved the arctic air in open air cars. Props to Tyler & Rashy for once again taking the Iron Ass award (shared this year with the Suedes from NoDak). Special props to Marcy for being the coolest 60 Foot Woman in Texas. And thanks too to all the other HAMBoners who were representin' -- the stone cold 815ers (abomber30, metalflake jerry, brian), the 847ers (continentaljohn, 392_hemi, 38pickup), Kevin Tulley, Thirdyfiveford, Bob from Joliet, Triumph Terror, Evel, wingnutz, Cadillac Kid, Menomonie Justin, the Omaha Speed Kings, and everybody else whose names the brain damage does not allow me to recall. I will see all y'all next year, hopefully not in a Honda.
They did it again! My hats off to the Chrome Czars for a fantastic show. I still have a beautiful "afterglow" from the show, just like last year. I met alot of cool new people, many old friends, and was able to partake in a very historic carshow. I wish I could have met alot more of the regulars on this site. The show was just too "insane" and pulled me in so many directions. A very good time. As a aside to all the hot cars and revelry, there was a totally awesome impromtu gathering of some of the very best and greatest sign painters and pinstripers from the Chicagoland area. With no paint involved and only the love of cool cars, individually about a dozen artists converged in the middle of the show and we talked the "Craft" for 3 hours. I couldn't believe it, and gushed like a little girl at her first prom, to be in the company of such history and greatness. I'll have more about this in another post, but if a "over reved blown Hemi" had exploded in the middle of this "mini meeting of the sign gods" it would of wiped out what's left of the talent, legacy and complete history of Chicagoland lettering and striping legends of the '50, '60 and '70's. Just awesome and only at the Pile Up! My grateful thnaks, Joel
you boys are doing a fine job. keep it up! AND you're doing a pretty good job of keeping the crap outside the fence too. wink! ha!
Excellent show. Great bands. Thank you, to everyone who helped put it on. Definately the Best in the Midwest. Only disapointment was that I only got to talk with a few HAMBers. I'll be there for next years show, hopefully for the pre-show party too.
Great show again this year. Only got 5 rolls this time. Would like to fet it on dvd. Got the Morris paper and didn't see anything but the Lions Club Show. HOTROD35
