Would like to make the swap meet this coming Friday. Would like to be there early. The wife likes shopping and crafts and such can anyone who lives near Asheville recommend some activity that would be open at 8:30 for the wife so I can enjoy myself ???
Donald: 'I'm Jealous. Had family in Fletcher until last year. Its a great area. Really enjoyed the swap as its the best one I have been to in years. Ya there was a few gold-diggers there, but some great people mostly. They use to have a rally in parking lot (Saturday?) . Sounds like the wife is splitting off from Ya?!. Man you cant go wrong just heading into Ashville and there is a ton of that artsy fartsy , craft stuff . Just park around the city center. I had my best parking luck around Biltmore - Lexington ave then its an easy walk around the area. Most shops around the Lexington , Market st areas. But the whole city center is a good time. Make sure to stop at Mast General store. She will have a good time. Some side notes: If you have not been to Biltmore its real nice if you like architecture. 2 great food stop's. French fryz. Its only about ten minutes from fairgrounds, and 12 bones has a converted Garage just near there also (not the one in Asheville proper). Best Grits I ever had and the brisket was delicious. Have a great time Luke
I'm from Ashevegas orginally. Just google the CVB website and turn her loose. river arts district, biltmore etc etc. if you want a truly local food experience I reccomend Kosta Kitchen in "downtown" fletcher--he's been in business forever and does great breakfast. The corner grill in avery's creek (at the intersection of of 191 and long shoals road on the way towards asheville) has a great seleaction. I'm fond of the chef salads and burgers there. Can't go wrong with French Fryz or 12 bones either. I will temper LZ's comments about how good it was. I have been generally unimpressed at the AG center offerings, but them I was un-impressed with Maggie the last few years it was there too. It's a better venue than before, but they have not recovered from the last few years at Maggie. There's some decent stuff, but not as much as I'd like to see or there once was, but then i guess that's everywhere. Haven't decided if I'm coming down this year. We've been invited to a big shindig here on Saturday and I can't see making the drive for one day. enjoy!
I go to 12 bones regularly....super good food...anything you get...ribs are great of course....the Asheville one is closed on sat and sun...and closes daiily about 4 pm. I heard the Arden one is open 1/2 day on sat....but not sure about that. Downtown Asheville is a very interesting place....lots to see and do and great food....the old dime stores are now art and craft stores....very talented folks here in this area. Mast general store on Biltmore ave has lots to see. Biltmore area has lots of antique shops...
Hot Rod how far is Hendersonville from the airport. I never noticed much in Hendersonville when I would run to the old Chimney Rock F100 Run. But then again if it didn't have fat fenders I wasn't looking. http://www.hemmings.com/events/detail?listing_id=38624

I scored a *****in' 4" cored br*** honeycomb radiator for my vintage sprinter for a whopping $60, and an equally sweet iron 4 banger Mallory with red cap and br*** condenser for a C note. It never rained a drop and turned out to be a pretty nice day. Lots of empty ground and mud with all the rain.
