So, I recently put together my flathead and I ordered some retainer clips from these yahoos. They ended up not fitting the retainers I also bought from them. I filed a couple of them to make them fit then found my originals. I went to their website and posted a review of their product.

    Here's where it gets weird.

A few days after I posted it and it was approved, I was credited the cost of the keepers. No questions asked. I didn't even try to get my money back, they just did it.

Those Speedway Motors guys, always out to screw ya any chance they can! :D

Nice to know they can take a lickin, and then deal with it properly.

Last thing they want is bad PR about anything. It's called damage control.

Don't get it! You posted they product was bad. Then they refunded your money without you asking for it. And yet you still slam them. Don't get it!

I like speedway motors. They have always been very helpful.

I'm not positive, but I think the last line of the OP's post was supposed to be ironic, as in, "Hey, those Speedway guys, regardless of all the bad word they get, aren't all bad".

...that said, there's an old saying that the exception makes the rule. Maybe all their products aren't bad, maybe their service is alright, but they've been outed here more than once for stealing designs and reproducing cheap Chi-Com versions of other rodders products. One I can think of right off the top of my head is Limeworks steering column.

EDIT: here's a link to the thread about it: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=372527&highlight=steering+column+speedway

My experience with Speedway Motors has always been good. Products are as represented and prices are fair and shipping is timely. Admittedly I am not a large customer of theirs but yet a satisfied one for what I purchase. I agree with the OP.. nothing worse than purchasing products that dont fit.. and I have done that also just not with SM.

Even Rolls Royce turned out a bad one once. With any company doing the volume Speedway does there are bound to be occasional oops. It is how they handle those oops that counts and Speedway, Summit, and Coker have always stepped up to the plate when needed for me.

Actually, they did screw ya by selling you a ****py part in the first place.
They made no apology, so likely they will keep on selling them till no one will buy them anymore.

I've ordered lots of parts from Speedway, so far, none have been bad or wrong.
I have been happy with all of my purchases from them.
That is not saying I couldn't problems in the future, but, I'll wait until it happens to complain about them.

I've only had a couple small problems with Speedway, but they always took care of the error. And a few months ago, they sent me a goody bag after Uncle Bill read my survey. People like to talk **** about them, but they aren't still in business because they screwed folks.

  16. Exactly. If they don't pull the product and rectify the problem then all they're doing is trying to buy the buyer's silence.
