This was my first time going and the third year for the show, I thought it was decent. It takes time for shows to mature/grow, how large was Viva when it first started? It takes participation for a new show to get bigger/better, bring your HAMB friendly rides out and make it a better show. Anyway, i'm a hot rod guy not a custom guy, however I can apreciate quality cars no matter which style. There were both there, here are some nice examples.
VW shows? I guess I need to warn you there were 4 rides from Old Slammers there in full roof rack rat***ude. I think Friday night maybe, definitely during the day Saturday was worth a $10 look around, but I understand picking and choosing show choices. Congratulations on the Father ness.
I posted photos I took from Friday night and Sunday in an album on my profile. I forgot to post some drag photos from Sunday, although they're nothing special.
I struggled to reason the cost as we wouldn't be going for the music, pinups, burlesque, burnouts, etc., and I'll be working HAN all week this year, so I'll have my fill of other peoples cars in a hurry. Dropped out of the show scene after discouragement at the VW shows, and just getting back into it after a few years, so moderation is key.[/QUOTE] Is the price of registration for the Reno Rockabilly Riot too high? Insuring the event for stuff like the short track drags and burn outs costs a lot. I guess I'm asking if the hotel room rates, day p*** rates, and car registration rates make the show a good value, or too much to pay. Let me know what you think! Thanks
If the burnouts and 10ft drag races are what's driving up the price then just cut those off the bill. Definitely not necessary. I would just try to stick to having a quality car show with one or two headlining bands in the evening. All the other hub-bub is a waste IMO. I'm glad you guys booked Deke ****erson to play this year, it was nice to finally hear some good rockabilly being played at the rockabilly riot.
