is there a mod to fit a Pontiac 65-up intake and after market ones to fit and work on 61-64 heads, not having any luck finding the right intake, really just curious the real differences between them and why they aren't compatible
I do eventually want to make my own custom intake but that's much down the road

also my first thread on here :D

Use a set of '65-up heads and it should work. It would be the easiest solution.

thanks guys ill research further into this, and I I recently found a 64 grand prix that's been sitting for decades, its a rust ball but it might have some goodies left on it,looked like it still had the engine( might go for the whole engine if its a SD 4boltmain ), the guy might not let me near it haha but I will find out soon, if that's a no go ill try to get some heads

I do plan on getting newer heads especially since what iv found out mine are 8.6 or 7.6 to 1 compression but when I do I will take measurements and post the differences between them

  6. You may as well get the whole car and part it out. While the trans is probably ****, the '64 blocks have the ear for a block mount starter like '65 up and the bolt pattern is close, if not the same. (some have just an ear, some have holes, some are even tapped).

I parted one out a few years ago and did pretty good on it, but I bought it right (s**** price).

The pre 65 intake covers some water ports at the rear of the heads and the bolt pattern differs at the water crossover at the front.
I cant remember for sure but I think the rest of bolt pattern is the same.

Pre 65 intakes are very common at swap meets …. most people want 65 up
