My wagon has a 3spd with OD but od isn't hooked up. I have a old Hurst 3spd benchseat shifter but no instructions and I've never messed with converting to floor before. Anyone have pics and advice to help me along? I know I read that its more difficult with od but heard maybe it can be spaced out? Thanks for any pics, advice etc
I've never done a floor shift on an OD chevy trans but I've read that you need a special bracket to clear the OD.
The old Hurst mounting bracketry I've seen for your transmission had two pieces; one that bolted under the two top bolts that hold the tailstock to the main body, and another that sandwiches between the tailstock and the crossmember mount.
Here's pics of what I have. I hate to tear into this and car be down too long. Can that solinoid be taken off and blocked off? Just asking. Never messed with these before. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Correct on the overdrive 3-speed requiring a special mount. You might check with Little Wing here on the HAMB, she deals in older Hurst parts and pieces. You could probably come up with a mount that bolts to the floor/hump in order to clear the solenoid ***embly. It probably does't have to shift "fast and furious" anyway because those transmissions are pretty weak to begin with. Butch/56sedandelivery.
