My 56 Ford with a Y Block made the 6 hour drive from St Louis to Des Moines just fine except for after checking into the hotel the car would not start. We believe we narrowed the issue down to the Pertronix Ignitor II could have failed. Does anyone local to Des Moines have one for a Y Block? If you are a vendor at Goodguys and have one please let me know. Thanks!

Can you put a set of points back in it?

Putting points back in is an option. I will look into the dura spark option also.

Two things to keep in the glovebox. Extra set of Pertronix and a set of points/condenser. :) Hope you get her sorted.

I converted my 57 to Duraspark II. After 40+yrs in Ford dealers I had half a dozen modules & stators laying around so the conversion was easy for me. Works great & I always have spare parts on hand.

Might call J R Motorsports in Ankeny at 515 589 5283. They are a Pertronix dealer and I have bought parts from them before. They may have a module that would fit and they are a suburb of Des Moines. O'Reilly's is also a Pertronix dealer. Plus this gets you back to the top.

I'll give them a call. We went to O'reilly yesterday but it would be Sunday before it would come in from the distribution center. We are at the fairgrounds now so I'm going to check the vendors.

The car is going again. Put a new ignitor in and back in business. See you at the show.
