thanks Eric, yeah, some nice days in front of us...:)

  6. I might have to steal that grille colour until I can swing the cost of re-chroming. I'm not a fan of painted chrome, but that looks pretty darn good.

So got it together and decided to shave the trunk, fill the bolt holes...here goes, the truck must have been damaged cause there some small waves round the indent...gonna have to use some filler when I decide to paint...

    key hole done:

now time to cut out the indent some cove it I prefer to cut just in case moisture gets in there...

start tacking every inch or so as to not warp then go back tack some more here and there...its only 14 gage...also, filled up bolt holes

okay all done, you can see some waves...this is where the original damage was...little filler when I paint...other wise turned out kul...another shave trunk

Looks good. How did you match the curve on the patch piece?

only thing i can add to a great build, my 50 ,i did the 4in blocks and aerostar springs, did end up milling an angle on the blocks to correct pinion angle after i was done and had it on the road. Had some driveshaft vibration, milling blocks cured it.

Nice job on the patch piece on trunk, I saw the pic of your hand held English Wheel and it gave me an idea as I'm in the process of shaving the trunk on my 50 Shoebox.
I'm going to attempt to make one from a tensioner bearing I had laying around.
Got to make a handle that somewhat has some balance to it, Also try and radius one side, will see how it comes out.
    Thanks for the idea.

hey kevin, I sent you a PM...Yes that will work, the radius is a good idea...that way you can alleviate any creases while forming and stretching the patch...its the top part of the patch that has the slight rounded part...good luck

Thanks for the help, really appreciate it.
It didn't come out the best, glad my doors were already done haha, but I will make it look right when finished with some body filler. Mine was wavy also from what looked like previous damage.
I posted it on my thread.

Great build thread! Love the use of Hipstamatic? Or some other iphone photo editing. Nice touch! :)
