My rebuilt pump is not pumping. The gl*** bowl is not getting any fuel in it.is there a trick to installing this pump like the Chevy with the pushrod? Or just bolt it on? Thanks

I never had a 394, but Do have earlier Olds motors. Those have a dish shaped "cam" bolted to the front of the camshaft.

There was one hamber with one of these older Olds engines, and the cam for the pump had been eliminated by the former owner, and that's why his pump did not work. It must have used an electric pump by the last owner.

Can you look in there with a mirror, to see?

Edit; Bench test: you should feel suction on one fitting, then pressure on the other, if you work the lever by hand.

You may have put it on with the pump arm above the cam instead of below it.

I'll pull it back off if there is a way to bolt it on wrong.

Try bench test. Easier if you can hold the pump in a vise without breaking the flange ear.

Move the lever and you should feel suction at one fitting, then going the other way, suction stops and pressure is felt at the other line.

These are simple one way valves. If it does not work, try soapy water around the gl*** bowl gasket and the main body gasket to see if it bubbles from a leak. Do that test with the outlet plugged over.

make sure the gas line is clear

I've had to prime them before too
stuff a short length of hose in the gas fill
wrap a rag around the hose at the filler neck sealing it off
and give it a couple pounds of air pressure while you crank it over
