This is how the truck looks now, minus mirrors/emblems/etc... Will get started next week filling the trim/emblem holes, shave the handles new gl*** & rubber, new fuel tank & elec pump, floor shifter, gauges, etc. Hopefully find some good whitewalls, repaint the stock steelies for now, and figure out how I'm going to slam the front end on a tight budget. Flip the rear axle over the springs, different front & rear bumpers, etc. So here's my quick (and amatuer) photoshop version of how I see it in the near future. Planning on satin metallic red & satin silver paint in the same pattern, also planning to do something in the grille area. whatcha think?
Cool truck. I've never cared for the 2-tone look, but I'm not you, so ignore me on that! Some of those ribbed 49 Plym bumpers would be perfect... at least the front one. And if the grille is straight enough, just chroming the one that's there would look pretty decent. Or if you decided against the 2-tone, and went with something besides white or silver for the body/fenders, you could paint the grille white... I'm kinda questioning if it would be worth the effort to french those headlights, though. Not enough visual improvement for the effort involved, IMO. If it were mine, I'd leave those alone.
I'm usually not too thrilled with 2 tones, but I'm down with this one . It definately needs to be lowwww!! Don't see too many of these either.
Looks great. I think the headlamp french is a good idea as it cleans up that area a lot. There's a great line about that fender, and the trim ring cutline just interrupts it too much. The satin met. red sounds nice too.
FWIW, I'd agree with Joeycarpunk. The darker color on the bottom will keep it from looking top heavy...designwise...but either way, it'll be a killer truck. Have fun.
Nice!... My dad had one when I was a kid. Tough truck! By the way, I didn't know you spoke Canadian EH!
Love that binder but I am kinda partial. Best thing about owning one is not pulling up next to one just like it. They were pretty utilitarian but thats what sets them apart. Here is my ol' hitter a 57 that's been in the family since 73. It's had the rear frame notched, 2 leaves removed and housing flipped lost about 7". Front has the frame Zed and a stock MII that I installed. I looked at a lot of install's and talked to a lot of people before I touched mine . I'm not saying I did mine any better than any body else (lot of ways to skin a cat). However if you got any questions I'd love to help. Pool.
I've got a source on the 49 plymouth bumpers if you want them. I think they'll look perfect on the truck
my friend Rob just picked up one of those trucks to. We are thinking about chopping it the roof is way to high. I will post pics when we get started. Scott
I like the old truck, looks pretty cool. It will always be an old farm truck if you leave the wood stakes on top of the bed.
I was wondering about the wood rails as well-that'd be different. So I'm guessin' it's a driver now, huh?
Internationals are cool... her's a suggestion, when you french the lights, bring them back flush with the fender, then french, might help get rid of the bug-eyed look... Brian
